The PS3 is just now starting to catch up with games for sure. I do like mine though but I used it more as a Blu Ray and upconverting DVD player then a game machine... at least until Aug 12th.

Microsoft just announced that they are going to let other people start making hardware for the the 360, so that will free up Toshiba to make a BluRay addon for the xbox.

What comes out on Aug 12th?

I know how it plugs in. I don't know how they detect that a aftermarket fan has been put on the Xbox but if they figure it out the fan voids the warranty.

I guess Microsoft figures the fans they designed for the Xbox are plenty and that adding extra fans is bad.

They have been slowly loosening up on add-ons. Prior to the Guitar Hero 3 no company besides Microsoft was allowed, or had ever, built an addon(controller in this case) that incorporated the wireless capabilities. Microsoft kept is closely guarded.

yeah, Madden 09, looks fantastic.Gametrailers.com - Madden NFL 09 - EA3 What's New Interview HD I know Madden isn't perfect but it's what I've been playing forever and me and my college buds play online all the time. I mostly play sports games but have really enjoyed Ratchet & Clank, COD4, and Uncharted as well.

Sony missed the boat on a Live-esque online world IMO. They went the route where each game developer has their own online world for play and it works very well as long as that developer has his ducks in a row.

Honestly, I try not to get too involved in the Xbox vs PS wars, each has it's strengths and weaknesses and it all comes down to what each individual wants. I talked the wife into the PS3 because of the Blu Ray and upconverting DVD as we had just got a 1080p LCD Bravia. The games were just a "bonus"

I started out on an Atari so where we are at in console games is just mindboggling if you think about it.

Yeah, the platform wars are not cool. I would have both if my wife would allow it.

I'd love to see some real data on actual "bricking" the game blogs are reporting no problems with 2.40 at all. Obviously something was up because Sony pulled it quickly but who really knows?

Either way, 2.41 is coming this week reportedly.

The one that voids the warranty are the internal aftermarket cooling fans that require you to take apart the xbox and install it. The external ones like I posted will not void the warranty.

I just got mine back, as tcb said it's easy peasy, they send you the box and we got it back in a week or two. There's some stuff on the 'net about heating the unit not cooling it to make it work but it's temporary. I've got the cell phone cheats for GTA IV if anyone wants them......

I'm on my fourth 360, they seem to have gotten it right this time. At least the warranty system is treating me right. I got my first 360 the day it was released, and it gave me the ROD a month later.

Still though, its a great machine. I think the way i love my unreliable xbox must be similar to the way jeep owners love their vehicles.

I cant find anything that says that it will not void the warranty, and I cant find anything that says it will. I guess it is up in the air. I have seen sites that love it and sites that dont. The sites that didnt, did not back up their claims and were not reputable.

These sites likes it:
IGN: Nyko Intercooler 360 Review
Nyko Intercooler 360 Power Protection reviews - CNET Reviews

I think there were a few problems with the early models and a couple of them shorted out, but they seem to work. The more I read though it seems if you just leave your 360 plenty of room to breath, it will be alright.

general rule with electronics is once you "open the case" you potentially/likely void your warranty.

I don't see how something that just sits on top of your Xbox could kill your warranty.
