Hardest-To-Get Cars

Hardest-To-Get-Cars: Yahoo Autos

The range of hard-to-get vehicles is as diverse as consumer tastes and budgets in general. Case in point: As expected, the most-wanted vehicle on our list is the fuel-sipping $21,500 Toyota Prius hybrid sedan that gets an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) combined estimate of 46 mpg. No. 2 on the list? The not-so-expected gas-guzzling $74,700 Lexus LX Series full-size luxury SUV that gets a combined 14 mpg.

How knew?

I remember looking at used 91-93 80's in Southern California in 94-95. Simply couldn't find one for sale. Used market is different, but I'm sure in the LandCruiser market that was somewhat reflective of the new car demand. Finally found a 93 at a Chrysler dealer in Palm Springs in 1995.

I guess many mericans still aren't taken to diesels yet as I thought the TDI beetle would be the #1 choice. If only they knew the diesel would slam that Prius at the most miles per gallon in the gas vs. diesel debate

I thougth the Mecedes Gull Wing from the 50's or early 60's was one of the hardest cars to get.

Many are buying the Prius since they have the carpool lane decal on them and they do not have to pay on toll roads in CA. I read that the sticker is worth more than the car.

People don't understand that small diesel vehicles are efficient. There's a reason why europe uses them. Most people get scared by the price of Diesel and look no further.

I am getting 19.8 mpg in my tow rig. I can't complain.

Local dealer has a waiting list for Prius' and sells used ones the day they get them. I've been wondering about the used ones for awhile. With the battery pack having a 10 year warranty and costing like $5k to replace, how is that going to affect resale on them?

People understand that, but can't get the cars, since they are not offered for sale here.

I would buy one of these if they were available in the USA and were reasonably priced.

yeah, it's sad. The Diesel thing has been hashed to death but you just can't can't beat the stupid out of some (most) people. Me and you would kill for a Diesel, and know what they can do...The average Joe though, doesn't know and unfortunately represents the biggest share of the market.

When we do get them, they will be so choked with this emissions BS a V8 will have the power of a V6. And who is gonna want an under powered, over priced motor that the fuel for it is more expensive than high test?(see sig)

I hope I'm wrong...but then again looking to the future and knowing what has happened in the past, all the information is supporting me.
