Please don't try this they can and do bite, and they can climb up there own body if held by the tail.. They are also often associated with several disease problems in wildlife some contagious to man. I don't recomend physical capture unless you are very familiar with wild animal handling. I have the scars to prove they are sneaky little but strong animals. Have had several in my clinic as pets in the past all were extremely aggressive never were good pets. But good luck

LOL, their tail isn't prehensile, but they ARE strong and scrappy. You can hold them by the tail.........I've done it. You might have to shake them down every now and again, but it works. Wish I had video.

On 2nd thought.......IndianDoc's prolly right........don't do it unless you're familiar with them. And I don't mean 'familiar' like you are with your wife/GF.

A guy picked up a Opossum like this at the hunt club one night. He had another guy drive and he held it outside the truck and kept flicking his wrist so he wouldn't get bit. Several miles later of bumpy dirt road he got back to the small hunt cabin - snuck up to the cabin - and threw the Opossum into the middle of the floor without anyone knowing. By the time that Opossum hit the floor he was quite pissed and was looking for a fight... quite funny.

I know woman who was walking around her yard, encountered a rabid coon which came after her.
She made it inside her husband's Chevy S-10. The RR charged the truck, put a dent in the door.
Husband heard the horn blowing, screaming, came out with a revolver(can't remember the cal.), emptied it.
Had to go back inside and came back out with a shotgun to finally end it.

Well, heard some scratchings last night out back, so I got out onto my porch with my camera and lo-and behold momma and 2 babies were out. Looks like they took one of my old sandals and were in the process of abducting another!

After I messed around with them a bit, I discovered there was a third

Caught the little bandit in action:

Here's some video..

YouTube - Raccoon + Sandal = Love

I've uploaded another, but its like 3 minutes long and I know your time is worth more than that!

Ya dude, rabies and other diseases. You need to get rid of those things. Yum! coon for dinner. A good 22 pump with flat tip pellets might be a semi humane method but for the most part what e-rock said fred.

Trying to find a humane way of removing them from the premises. Sure they don't pose any personal threat to me but I would prefer to not have them tearing up my sh*t. If I wanted that, I'd get a puppy
