What I then have to do is channel all of my thoughts / energy to one part of my body to get it to move (like a hand or foot). As soon as I get it to move, slowly the rest of my body starts to wake. As I get the foot or had to cooperate, it often very choppy (like the nurons are only half firing - only half the spark plugs are firing).

This has been happening ever since I can remember, but damn it's creepy. Anyone else go through this?

the craziest thing i have done while sleeping is i had slept on my side and my left arm was "asleep". As i rolled over my arm flopped onto my chest. I reached with my right hand thinking someone was attacking me and chunked my "asleep" arm into the wall! about frickin' broke my hand and wrist. I felt like such an idiot; then i laughed at myself for a little while.

Those who "suffer" from this condition should check the book "The Art of Dreaming" by Carlos Castenada.

That is all.......

I'm a light sleeper so I always thought that hearing and feeling things (trains, somebody bumping the bed,etc...) was even more intensified with my eyes closed. I was never was a control freak so not being able to control my physical reflexes was never an issue. I always thought this was normal. When I accidentally leave the TV on and fall asleep, I already know what happened in the late night shows the next morning. Too bad I didn't harness the power of comprehension/learning while I slept during college.

"ISP appears to be far more common and recurrent among African Americans than among White Americans or Nigerian Blacks" [8], and is often referred to within African American communities as "the witch riding your back" [9][10].

wtf?

fell asleep one night on the top bunk, I knew I was doing it and it felt like I was being lowered into a grave! Everything was ok till I saw (imagining) a head pop from over the side like it was looking down on me. I tried to wake up and I knew I was unconscious and it would be hard. Non the less I began kicking and punching, my limbs felt as though they were heavy and I was submerged in a pool. In reality I wasn't moving a bit, and no one was looking down on me........

spooky......

It's scary the first few times. If you can train yourself to wake up enough to realize whats going on it's honestly kinda fun.

I've had sex in my sleep before. Not falling asleep during... that would get me poisoned, but I've woken up having sex. My wife realized I was asleep and asked "What is my name?"
That was the moment that I woke up. It's like my brain has a safety mechanism that wakes me up just before I get divorced.

It only started happening when I started working night shift and slept with my wife during the weekends.

That was probably too much info. Let the jokes/flames begin!!!
