Ideas for Mexico Vacation?

Wife and I are looking to stay on the caribbean side. Where should we avoid or go? Playa del Carmen, Cozymel??? Any ideas? Scuba and snorkel are important.

I hear it's good to stay away from the nightlife scene.

Playa del Carmen, Cozumel both great for diving. Playa del Carmen is pretty big now.... I think there were 4 Hagen Daz on the same street. The beach scene in playa del carmen is pretty interesting. One of our favorite places is Tulum a bit further South. Look up Anna y Jose for a neat place to stay....two of the cottages have beach front. Have fun.

Shame you can't make it to Chichen Itza--great Mayan temple site between Merida and Cancun--just awesome from a cultural standpoint...but this is a diving trip--GL!

I did this in November....it was a day trip. Next time we hit playa del carmen I doubt we will rent a car....it was more of a hassle. The other place to think about is the Islands in Belize. World's 2nd largest barrier reef. The diving was incredible. For that matter the snorkeling was incredible. Check out moorings.com
