I guess that rubber wheel is the disc you speak of.

Mine pops wheelies and has what a Nascar Driver would call a "push"...

Yep, IIRC it has 6 bolts that hold it on. A 7/16" wrench does the trick on the older ones.

I changed mine and found it to be a pain in the ass, I'm thinking I took the long road or something but it seemed pretty clear cut to me.

Ferris makes a rider with a Cat diesel. I looked at it, but it's a little heavy for what we do.

Yeah, they have independent suspension. They are really nice but a big spendy.

Ok. I've acquired a free mower. An '03 Murry Performance, 42 in deck with a 20 hp Temecuha (sp?) engine. It's got about 120 hrs on it. It cuts a trench into the ground, but I think I have a good idea of what's causing it. I've just got to find a way to get it to my house now....

I think one of the braces on the deck is bent.... like somebody ran over a big ass root or stump with it. It's always center of the deck, so I don't think it would be a blade.

Why not just buy some rope, toss it around the wife's neck and send her out to chaw for awhile?

The front spindle could have bent the deck. It will cause the front leading edge of the blade to dig in.

Park your mower on a flat level surface. A driveway will work. Measure from the ground to the blade tips front to back and side to side. It will tell you if the deck is sprung at the spindle or if the spindle is bent.

Generally, you want the front blade tips 1/8" higher than the rear of the blade. Upper end lawn mower have an adjustment for this fine tuning. On the old snapper you had it was done with Chains at the back of the deck as well as Eyebolts that connect the chains to the frame. Simplicity Mowers have fine thread screw adjustments on the rear roller bar. John Deer mowers use caster wheels, etc.

If it moves Steve @ 250, it'd move me @ 250.... My knees would probably be all up in the handle bars, but it'd beat the shiz out of push mowing the place!

I should have my "new" mower at the house tonight. My step-dad is going to pick it up today and trailer it down for me.

Here is the Murray Website that will cover your deck.

Murray, Inc.

Kinda lame since it does not really walk you through any actual procedures.

Here is a website (maybe) you should have looked at before you bought it.

Murray Lawn mower Parts, Murray riding mower Parts Murray parts.

None of those problems are what this mower was doing. One of the braces at the rear of the deck was bent and basically forming a 2 inch wide plow. I've removed the brace and the problem is solved.

Murray's are shit, always have been. I knew that at 5 years old when my mom bought me a Murray brand bike... Not only did the other kids laugh at me, the fawkin chain kept popping off no matter what we did to fix it.

However I spent exactly $0 dollars on this mower, so worst case scenario, I've got some decent scrap metal, a 20 HP Tecumseh motor with 120 hours on it and hopefully a little time before I have to peel off any of my money on a mower.

wow

My first "real" bike was a Murray, too. Looking back, I thought I was a just a dumbass because I was the only kid who had to put the chain back on several times a day. Fuckin' Murray - gave me a complex that I have to this day.

Sorry

Naw, a friend of the family hooked me up. Not overly pumped about the fact that it's a Murray, but you can't look a gift horse in the mouth... ya know?

The thing that pisses me off, my folks gave a little Honda rider to my Uncle a few months ago knowing that I'd probably be needing a mower.
