The one in San Antonio is similar to the big 3 in at least one important way: it's laying workers off. Just the temps, for now . . .

It's interesting because the mentality reported in this piece above is also evident at dealerships.

At American Toyota in ABQ, CDan is constantly pushing us to figure out ways to make the customer experience in buying parts better than it already is. While Dan deals with all of you nut jobs, the rest of the AmToy crew concentrates on local needs of parts. The parts department and the warehouse does a very good job of getting parts to people that need them, ASAP. We are all about making sure our customers are satisfied with the level of expertise we provide.

Besides CDan, all of the other parts folks at AmToy have been there for well over 20 years. They know Toyota parts--inside and out, old and new.

The respect that is shown workers whom are not management is exemplary.

While Dan is exacting and a tough boss, the reality is that he believes in the Toyota way... and that shows in the work the rest of the parts crew engage in.
