I agree completely! What is the fascination with V8s? Next thing you know, someone will build a sport bike around one .............probably a Rover V8
A few pics of a V8 motorcycle sitting next to a New Triumph Rocket 3. The bike is smaller ,100lbs lighter, with twice the displacement and HP.
The engine block is the frame. Direct drive, no transmission...

So i guess putting a 12ht or a 3FE is just as bad? You got plenty of 40's owned by purist that will pass them down to their grand kids and they will put a flux capacitors in them!

Anyone else think this was funny as hell.

A 40 weighs, what, twice what a Corolla does? You'd have to redline it on hill climbs.

I've often drooled over that thought but have been shortly shot down when I ran it across to one of my friends.

Of coarse I'd have an Aluminum body, how else could I afford to by it in the 1st place but as skrap? Then I'd keep the wheel and tire combo light like the Aussies and Eruo's do it, focus on traction.

Then a 22R/E....or 3b.....or 13BT..

Hey, the Lj's (think bj70) had 22R's in'em

And yes stop this mindless V8 madness. Haven't the last 30 years got us where we are today?

But Original Poster, seriously, you only see the difference w/ V8 rigs?

Open your eyes bro, its everyone of them. Fawk, the days of lucking up and finding one and working a 2 jobs to buy it are over. Even the most basic of rig is outta sight. And the 60's are set to go right behind them.

....then the 80's....nobody wants anything after that, so maybe the less qualified 100 series will be an option for me. We'll see.

.Thats me

My Pig came with a V8 and I like it a lot. There is room for purists and modders, no reason to panic.

can't you just put an invisible V8 in there? Then no one would know.

I think that a completely stock FJ40 is something to admire. I would love to have one someday. And if I were to put it in a show or something there would be no other way to go than completely stock.

But these things are built to get our asses through some pretty nasty shit and should be built accordingly. And I probably wouldn't take that all original show truck up the stuff I take this one through.

On the other hand, the thought of switching back to the 2F has crossed my mind a lot but there are too many other things to do to the truck to worry about that right now as the 350 works just fine.

I just think that imposing your own beliefs on others and acting like you are better than they are is pretty douchebagish.

I suppose I am creating the ultimate sacrilege by shoving a 6.0L Vortec in my '64 FJ45LV

But I guess I make it up with running the 2f on propane in my FJ40

Yep. I want a 30 year old engine that was designed by Chevy in the 40s that weighs 300 lbs more, has half the power, is impossible to find parts for and can't even be improved much over stock because of major design limitations.

Rover-Shmrover!

Naaa, I'd put the Siamese Hayabusa (I think its a Busa?) in it

YouTube - V8 caterham

Packing a supercharged 2.4-liter, V8 driving the rear wheels through a six-speed gearbox, RS Performance is giving well-heeled drivers 550 hp (at 10,000 rpm!) to simultaneously dry their hair and wet their pants. With a curb weight of almost 1,150 pounds, that means a power to weight ratio of around 1000 hp per ton and a 0-60 time of under three seconds.

I think, if you can find one, that those have allot of potential.

115 hp @ 3,400rpm
214 ft/lbs @ 1,600rpm Torque monster!

4.12" of stoke and a bore of 3.88" ...needs EFI and to bore the hell out of

I dont have the c:r but I'm sure it could be bumped as well,

Its almost a Diesel. And the latter UPS or delivery trucks they were used in, had EFI.

No big deal, seeing as how you can EFI a 1-2f these days pretty cheap, and notice a world of difference.

Torque is what i like..... horsepower is the least of my concern....just my dumb fascinations with I-6 .
There is one I picked up recently for free I will have done one day. There is plenty of machine shops around so.....no rush
