Well, that bike is street-titled but not licensed. Mine is both licensed and titled and turn signals aren't required for motorcycles here in Texas--but I think they're a damn fine idea. My kit already has a high and low beam but it's a really low-power 35W light. And I've got a horn, but it's puny. That's why I call it more of an enduro kit--just barely enough to make it legal but not really enough to make it safe. The kit I'm getting will bring it up to the standards of most any bike out there as far as lighting and/or safety equipment out there. Also, the kit I currently have is not LED--the new kit has both the tail/brake and turn signals in LED, which is MUCH brighter and efficient.

I just got off the phone with folks at Ricky Stator, who specialized in new high-power stators for these bikes. The original factory 75W stator is gonna be replaced by a dual-output 100W/100W stator. Then I got on the phone with Baja Designs, who sells a proper dual sport kit for the bike. I got the kit made for this bike that will have LED tail/brake and LED turn signals front and back. These lights will be driven off of one of the 100W outputs which will be sent to a voltage rectifier/battery combo and run on DC power. The headlight will be a PIAA 80W rig that will be run from AC power directly from the second 100W output. The kit is pretty much plug-'n-play and has all the guts mounted in behind the headlight shroud. The final analysis should be a bike that is much much much safer for me day and night--on-road or off. I like that. Oh, and I'm getting a second mirror.

I don't expect to learn much tonight during the classroom portion, having done quite a bit of reading beforehand, but the riding skills part should be very edifying.

Waiting for my pr0k tenderloin and mashed potatoes that Mrs. yooper is preparing....

I have to head out to BFE tonight. This week was the start of the big Mayhaw Festival and thus, all the carnies are out in full-force. I hate carnies. Tomorrow morning is the big parade and Saturday night is the biggest night on the midway. Big doin's in little BFE.

More good news resulting from my website and an Internet search from an email that I just received:

I am the director of a 6 branch public library system.

I am interested in investigating system-wide signage that would allow our users to be as self directed and sufficient as possible.

Could you contact me so that we can begin discussions.

The Library is in Maryland!
