If the leaves look plump and juicy, it may be just that the blooms were old. Was the plant blooming when you got it?

The blooms on a phal can last a long time, like 4 months or even more... but if they were three months old when you got it...

There's also a chance it could spike again. Some plants will spike twice in succession if they're really happy.

Yes. Cut it off as close to the base of the plant as possible. If the plant is really strong, you can actually cut off the spike just a little below one of the "nodes" that one of the flowers grew out of. Often times, this can encourage the plant to put out a new branch of the spike that will flower.
