It is all live well. There are bait wells that have protection to keep the baitfish from swimming up into the pump tubing when it is off and a screen to keep them away from the siphon but they are still technically live wells.

Then you have much larger live wells to keep your catch alive so you can bring it home and filet it w/o icing it. This keeps it uber fresh.


And to correct yooper (minorly) from a page or two ago; not all live wells pull fresh water (in the context of salinity) but they do pull freshly oxygenated water (since us saltwater folks use live wells at least as much )

Edit: It should also be noted that there are "release wells"
