I don't mistake them, but like I said, "most folks can't tell the difference". I stand by that comment--especially from a distance.

At 80mph rolling down the interstate and passing anywhere from 50 to 100 yards away from the edge of the field, yeah, the vast majority of folks don't know the difference.

"you" was not the specific you here but the general 'you' here
your humor must have some Germanic essence given the lack of it by Jman's standards

As for chasing leaks: Power-wash the undercarriage to get all the gunk/dirt/unkown hydrocarbon products etc. off and start with a clean slate; proceed to let dry. The dust all suspected areas in baby powder (aka cornstarch) - this should help to identify the source of any new leaks.
If the axle gets to spew gear oil thru the breather, it's either way overfilled, or it got seriously hot. In the latter case, it might be good to take a look.... Next time you're out there 'wheeling, get somebody to go and lay a hand on the differential and the pinion snout. If they burn there hands, you know there's something wrong...
Re gear oil - several philosophies: 1 - use cheap 90w, replace it often; 2 - use spendy Amsoil/Redline/Royal Purple/Lucas HD gear oil and keep it, provided you've got good seals and the breather relocated up high to keep water out of the axle.
|
another thing that might be worth looking at is whether the breather cap thing was gunked up, they are just a little spring loaded deal IIRC, and if it was stuck and then built up enough pressure under normal use to pop and dislodge the blockage, it would give a quick spurt ( ) and make a mess like that.
might be worth popping it off and cleaning it up, make sure everything is clear.

Due to the amount of wifi stealing that seems to go on in TUT, I figured this was applicable:

semlin, you're not on-point here. The idea is that the seller is NOT in the state of florida in any way, shape or form. Given that tidbit, if a person in florida buys over the interweb from that seller and pays no sales tax, then it is inconceiveable that Florida could possibly be owed any tax and the fishing expedition you describe is patently absurd. This all presumes, of course, that it has been firmly established that the seller has NO NEXUS with the State of Florida.
As to your second paragraph regarding amazon.com--that is superfluous and does not contradict the case cited by Fred--seeing as amazon is collecting sales tax for every state in which they have operations.
