Uhh the big lake bed is part of the Nellis gunnery range. You might want to avoid it.
I dropped the front of my old FJ40 into a washout cutting across the lake one night. It was 2' wide at the top 6' deep and 4' wide at the bottom.

Yeah...that's what I was wondering about. As you head North the road forks a couple times, and some of it heads out towards Nellis, some of it goes south and ends up hitting the 93 at the Ranger Station Road or something like that...
Ringing any bells?

I would check your front and rear diff oil for contamination and consider changing to synthetic as it will run a little bit cooler.
also remove and clean your diff breather tubes. If they were blocked the axles get pressurized and bad things happen including the blowing out of axle seals.
the "wet cement" is a sign of axle grease migrating through the axle seals. If you didn't get it all flushed out before or if the seal failed again it might be the same problem. If the diff oil is too thick it can cause issues in the front diff including overheating. It could also put an excessive load on your tranny and t-case when in 4wd (and kill your gas mileage).
I would also make sure you do not have excessive grease in the driveshaft slip yokes that is causing pressure on the t-case, especially the front when you engage 4wd. if you overgrease the splines or put grease on the end of the spline you can get preload that will burn out your diff and your tcase.
as for the tranny, a tranny cooler is an excellent idea and not too expensive to add. synthetic tranny oil will reduce temps slightly but is pricey.

she was just wheeling a 60 in the desert
it wasn't a Ferrari or some sensitive race horse
get real, there is likely nothing wrong with the truck as such, and if it does not continue to drip, keep in mind that at least for 40s and 60s it's correct to say that all cruisers leak
she doesn't use it a whole lot - she had it at wrenching day and experts looked at it - she had it at Truckwerks and they checked it over - she wheels it lightly and relatively rarely - the tranny and diffs might have been overfilled.........
now if it was brake fluid, I would get worried

I'm missing the drivers side front chrome and the passenger side snakeblinder - which is kind of what's motivating me to get rid of the rest.
The remaining gutter trim is perfect. The remaining snakeblinder - not so much.

We finished up the birthday cake last nite...
She made it and it was most excellent! However, she was afraid
that we would eat too much cake so she gave 2/3 of it to the lifeguards
at the pool where she swims.
Their comment was not thanx, but - it's not chocolate!
Sheesh!

I have the passenger's side snake blinder IIRC... but not the passenger's side. Of course, since I am not Superman and can't see both sides of the car at once I really don't mind.
I think one guy on mudbay that was parting out an old 60 wanted like $25 plus freight for it.

WTF
I found some newspaper article from 2003 that said that the state had only collected like $250,000 in that fashion and was looking into enforcement

[RANT] Florida does that same thing... it is to stop dodging the sales tax with interweb purchasing and / or buying something in Florida and having it shipped elsewhere to avoid the tax... they are trying really hard to enforce it and just nailed a friend of mine that owns a jewelery store. It seems that one of his sales people bought a drop box in Georgia where he would ship the jewelery for his 'best customers'. That way they did not have to pay the sales tax. These fine outstanding citizens (some of them attorneys and CPA's) would then drive the 20 miles or less to Georgia and the drop box and retrieve their purchases.
Needless to say that the sales person is out of a job. AND, the jeweler is now being completely audited for all sales and sales tax payment.
I actually have to pay a tax to own things for the business and it is called an 'Intangible Tax'. This is on top of having to pay the tax to purchase the damn thing.
VERY TAXING! [/RANT]

all i suggested was that she

-check her driveshaft splines in case she over greased them,

in total that is maybe 45 minutes work...
that is not exactly overreacting to the simultaneous symptoms she encountered, only one of which could be explained by overfilling.
I believe grrl has not previously experienced all these symptoms at once even though she has wheeled at hotter times of the year

The jeweler is not up on charges since he knew nothing of the scheme and fired the employee immediately upon finding out the 'facts'. Charges may be brought by State Revenue on the past employee and they are still harassing the jeweler with fines and penalties and demanding every invoice for purchases of stock made and corresponding proof of inventory or sale of individual item.
State Revenue has an unlimited budget and no limit on the man hours they can dedicate to this. Jeweler's attorney and CPA fees are outrageous... He is trying to have attorney and CPA make proposal for settlement to end the harassment.
He is not having very much luck because the Revenue folks are holding his feet to the fire - ignorance is no excuse, etc.
