And the Brits far outnumbered the Americans at New Orleans. If they had forgotten about tradition and pageantry and all that European crap and fought like the frontiersmen (who learned from the Indians) to do crazy shit like using cover and other "uncivilized" tactics, they would have fared better. But they stood there in the open, all in pretty column and line formations with their bright red uniforms making them easy to sight down with a rifle, waiting for their "turn" to shoot while their comrades dropped like flies all around them.
If they had realized there had been a paradigm shift in the way wars were going to be fought, they probably would have routed the Americans who they outnumbered.

What type of bars does it have? If they are steel bars get rid of them and get a set of decent set of alloy bars. The steel ones will bend like licorice the first time you drop it. They will cause extra damage, more than the price of the alloy bars, and the bike will be unrideable with the bent bars.
A bit like a "damage multiplier" brush bar vs an ARB bull bar.
The other thing I'd do too would be swap that rear taillight/guard extender/number plate for something lighter, more compact, and more crashproof.
I know you don't plan on ever dropping it but these things happen and it is better to be prepared and able to ride home again with no worries rather than be stranded somewhere and have to push a mangled bike home to an expensive repair bill.

I dunno what kind of bars, didn't notice. Probably stock crappy steel. I'll probably get a Renthal bar and a riser. The bark busters are kinda wimpy - I might replace them with metal ones, but I can't decide - metal is stronger but also scares me a bit - a plastic guard will just break and fall away with a really hard hit but a metal one could trap my hand. Probably never happens, just me being paranoid...
There is a guy on XT225.com that installed a TTR225 rear mudguard with a WR250 taillight - it 's a much better design and I'll probably do the same.
I might get smaller/tougher turn indicators as well.
I also need a tail rack. There are about half a dozen out there available for this bike, which is one of the reasons I chose this model. Yamaha hasn't changed anything but the graphics for ten years, so there are a lot of aftermarket parts available.
I just insured it this morning and the shop is going to register it today. I'll have it tomorrow or Friday.

When you take your MSF class, go back to your insurance company with your certificate and renegotiate your premiums. Most insurance companies will give you a rate reduction for taking the MSF class, which is often why you'll see riders with 10-20 years experience taking the MSF course with you -- often times, the $150 for the course is outweighed by the savings in insurance premiums.

You know what's shocking? How many doctors can't spell, pronounce, or define common words.
