Skunks, what skunks.

I borrowed a friend's CZ 453 Varmint and plugged them all in a very short time. For not having shot a gun in ages I didn't do that badly. Out of 4 shots I only missed once and that was on a running and dodging skunk. That looks like the gun I'll get. I need to decide on which scope. The Leopold he had on it is a bit pricey. Made the gun look cheap.

The stock on his is green/gray synthetic of some sort with a fake wood-grain* to it that seems a little hokey to me. Stainless barrel, all matte so nothing shines. I'd rather have a wood gun myself...but the price sure is good.

*yeah yeah hyphenated and all...

Along with a short "writing exercise": Write an SOP for making a bacon cheeseburger.

Coyote is on the large end for the 17HMR round, but people say it is doable if you are a good shot. The stuff I've read says the round is good to 150ish yards or so. Only a few have said to 200 yards.

It was OK but I put on electronic ear muffs when I was plinking the skunks. I really don't have much to compare against as I'm not a shooter. I want to maintain my excellent hearing.

Our coyotes out here are really small desert coyotes. They can't weigh much more than 20-30lbs. Being a good shot would be mandatory though I'm sure.

Uh, semlin's got a point--he didn't abandon her, it was more the other way around, because she went into hyperdrive to take care of her son, and sort of left him in the dust. Don't want to go into the details.

This Leopold made most Leopolds look cheap. It was their top of the line a few years back. He moved it to the 17HMR last year when he got a new one for his competition target rifle. He spends $$$$ on guns like I spend $$$$ on farm equipment.

Stainless and synthetic does have it's advantages. Not as much worry when you are in inclement weather for days on end.

Did you tell them you are a vegan and find this exercise discriminatory?

Yes.

But I still must pay my penance for another week or so.

I will have more salacious details once things are settled.

I am sitting in class, the prof has a student read a poem out loud before we start the explication on it. She is about 21 or so, and she completely botches the word "infantry". As we move around the room reading out loud, I start to pay attention to everyone, and I was amazed at the really simple words that people seemed to stumble over
