The lights on the dash coming on like that is known to be a symptom of an alternator problem. Each time it has happened to me it has coincided with a muddy trip. The mud clogs up the brushes in the alt and stops the charging. A quick hose and/or a tap on the side of the housing with hammer usually frees it up to start charging again. Maybe the leaky rad hose/ road salt clogged up the brushes?
It could be the trailer harness or earths or it could be the alarm too but until you can get the voltmeter to check battery voltages, etc we are all just guessing.
I would keep an open mind that it could be a couple of unrelated faults. They could be related too, but I am guessing that you have more than one problem.

After finding out about this book on TUT a while ago I have been trying to find a copy of it over here. None of the regular bookshops stock it or have heard of it. The has been searching online for it so she could get it for me for Xmas but no OZ suppliers have it. I think I might have to get one from your side of the pond.

That is scheduled. In the meantime I can get it tuned up and maybe take it out to the site of TUTapalooza II and ride it in the woods...

Yep, that's a big part of me choosing it. I have short little legs, 30" inseam, and my first bike should be one that lets me put both feet on the ground from the seat. I also only weight 150 lbs, so a 225 should have plenty of oomph for me. 70mph and 90mpg should be attainable pretty easily.
It's a LandCruiser of motorcycles, tough as nails, very low maintenance. The transmission has the widest gear ratio spread of any motorcycle; first gear is super low and sixth is for the highway.

Alarms and their installers are the debbil. I yanked the one out of my Fj62 the first week after I bought the truck. It weighed 12 pounds all together and I found three wires that were about to break where they gorilla that installed it spliced into the harness.
I also had to replace the trailer light harness.
When I had problems with the tail lights on my FJ55 the problem again was the trailer light harness. Out it came.

I tried that and went to a Nutritionist. Bad mistake since I did not know that he was a vegetarian... AND, he tried to push his eating preferences on me... millet and all. If I had a use for millet it might be to fill a pillow or something like using for bird seed.

It's pretty awesome, with some hillsides yellow with brittlebush, and the mountains having yellow streaks of poppies.
'04 was more dramatic, but then it rained even more during the winter.
I'd love to spend another month in AZ and see the cactus blooming...

Yes, thanx for sharing those pics of the desert.
The flowers are really beautiful around here but I have been too lazy to charge up some batteries for the camera. We have had several years of drought (including the winters) with poor blooming in spring.
This winter we had a normal amount of rain and it looks like every flowering shrub and tree suspects that it is their last chance to have babies. The dogwoods are blooming strong for the first time in more than three years. The wild trees next to the hedgerows and country roads will knock you out.
