We are considering either a Mazda3 or a Civic for Mrs. Cube's new car. Mazda3 gets rave reviews, but mediocre mileage for a 2.2 liter 4 cyl, low 30's on the highway.

Civic is probably a better car overall, but not fun. Mrs. Cube has never had a fun car. This is probably the last opportunity, since the diesel hybrids we'll all be driving in 10 years won't be fun.

And the Mazda 3 5door GT is supposed to be pretty fun. Zoom Zoom and all.

Ha...probably. I'm just going to leave the 33" Revo's on there and call it good. Hopefully it'll make it easier to sell.

Fippin' stalkers.

It is not common knowledge, but I owned a Mazda3 5-door for about 6 months... I loved it, was a great car, fun to drive (Especially with the 5 speed manual) and looked great. Got lots of complements on it.

A few complaints:

1) Goes through brake pads fast (though that could be reflective of driving style )

2) Mileage is mediocre for a 4-banger. We typically got 27-28 MPG. (Again, maybe reflective of driving style)

3) Stock stereo sucks. OK, all stock stereos suck, but this one in particular. There is an option for an upgraded stereo (JBL or Infinity maybe, I don't remember) and I would STRONGLY recommend that.

Other than that, it was a great car. The complaints about the brakes and the mileage may have been my fault... It was a fun car to drive, and we both were guilty of driving it in a "fun" manner, if you get my drift. Never had a problem with anything. All the components under the hood were Japanese made Denso, Aisin and other well-known suppliers you see on Toyotas and Hondas, so it's not really an issue with getting a Japanese Ford, I don't think.

We traded that car on the 4Runner. I miss it sometimes.

Yep, south central Iowa is where the farm is at.

Found another deer carcus by the highway curves fence. This one was relatively fresh. There was an eagle feeding on it so I left it there. Once the eagle stops feeding on it I'll move it to the compost heap.
