I'm helping Nicholas with his science project.
We lit up a red LED with 4 lemons.

Hey Fuckers.
Back from Chicago and the hockey game. Blackhawks won in OT against the St. Louis Blues.
I don't really care for either team, it was just fun to get out.
After the game, on the way home Katie wanted to stop at IKEA to look at some new blinds for the windows. So, as we were going in, a few spaces down from the 4Runner was parked a silver Honda Odyssey, which I noticed had the engine running. Three small children were in the back. Since it was very close to the door, I assumed the kids were just waiting a few moments for a parent to come out. I chalked it up to being irresponsible, but nothing more.
Two hours later, I walked out to the 4Runner to move it over to the loading area, cause every time we go to IKEA for X, we invariably wind up leaving with X, Y, Z, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I.... You get the drift. So, I see the same Honda Odyssey, engine running, three kids in the back, but the little girl (I'd say about 6 years old nd the oldest of the brood) had rolled down the window, and was crying up a storm, yelling for daddy to come out.
I called the cops. I and Katie signed a complaint.
After talking to cops, and giving statements and contact info, and of course being run for priors/wants/warrants, we were given permission to GTFO of Dodge.
It was then when I realized the passenger side headlight bulb on the 4Runner was out. (It must have gone out today sometime, as I know it was working last night.) So fuck, what do you do in Schaumburg, IL at 8pm on Easter Sunday? I thought about going ahead and driving the 60 miles home, thinking I'd be OK... but, I'm so worried about getting a ticket that I asked the Police if there was a 24 hour Wal-Mart or something nearby. They directed me to Meijer, which is a Super Wal-Mart knockoff based out of Michigan. The cop said if I was going there to get a bulb, if I got pulled over, to ask the officer to call him, and he'd vouch for the fact that I was aware of the problem and was on my way to rectify it.
We made it to Meijer without incident. I went in and bought the bulb, waited in line like 30 minutes, then went out, replaced the bulb, and got in the 4Runner, started it up, turned on the lights.... and the other (driver's side) headlight bulb burnt out!!!!!!!!
What the Holy Fucking Hell?
So, I got another bulb, and had to sit there in the parking lot, in the snow, and in the dark and replace the driver's side bulb, which means removing the battery.
What a fucking night...
Finally got home.... Katie and I are going to eat some Pizza and hit the rack in a bit, I think. I have to go to cocksucking, pig fucking wr0k tomorrow.

That is kind of how the Tercel's went. Well, I was leaving my mom's late one night and I lost the left side lowbeam headlight. I flicked on my brights and drove home like that. I had tons of classes and shit going on, the next night I turned on my headlights, put on the brights and there was a pop of light, and then I only had the left side high beam....

Warning: some sad content follows.
So, we spent the weekend visiting 's HS friend. This is her oldest friend, known each other for 35 years. Last summer, there was a family tragedy--her 5 y.o. son was run over by a truck. Nearly died, wound up *only* paralyzed--limited use of hands. It's been 7 months since the accident, but things have been so hectic, this is the first time she's felt in control enough to have us visit. In that time, she's dealt with the tragedy, found the best program for her son, moved with her son to that city, kept her job by working half-time, kept the insurers footing most of the bill by giving them a Powerpoint presentation about her son's recovery and the settlement they expect, shuttled her daughter to and from their home town for weekends, and somehow kept going. And on top of it all, the stress of this has put an end to her marriage. Oy.
Anyway, the weekend was great, actually. Hectic, but great. While we were there, her son came down with the flu. So, the first two days were mostly us and her daughter, while she looked after her son. The girl obviously is glad to have the company of my daughter, and enjoys the museum, the hotel pool, etc., but I could tell she was a little at odds having fun without her family--they're never all in the same place anymore, it seems.
So, this boy is in a wheelchair, he's got a tracheotomy, and he has the flu, but today he was up for taking a stroll along the waterfront. I was informed that the womenfolk would be staying put and talking, and I would have all four kids on this walk. So, here I am accompanying this 6 year old boy, in his $22k wheelchair, along a half-mile route full of ramps, gangways, piers, etc., with an 8 foot drop into the harbor, with no railing. The kid is racing ahead, woozy from the flu, and wanting to go all over the place to see the ducks. And all the while I'm thinking "If he goes over, I have to jump in after him immediately because he's going to sink like a stone and will need to have his seatbelt unbuckled to get to the surface, and fuck the wheelchair; if someone else goes over, they're on their own because I need to stick next to Captain Pike here to make sure he's not the next one in; oh, and just how do you perform CPR on someone with a tracheotomy?" So, anyway, we go the half-mile, turn back at which point his batteries drain, so I have to push him back, up and down all those ramps--and he and the chair weight about 250+ lbs.
Anyway, we got back, and I told her how the walk went, including my worries about him falling in the water, the narrow pier we went out on, etc., and she was all "Oh, that's okay, I'm glad he had fun." She's gotten to the point that she's fine with an high element of risk, as long as her son enjoys himself.
So, at the end of our trip, we drove her daughter back home to NJ, and dropped her off with her dad. She obviously was glad to see him, but sad to see us go, and sad that her mom and brother were 200 miles away.
Soooooo, I am fine with my life right now.

And, on top of it all, this kid, who has experienced every sort of sorrow you can imagine, still cracked a smile every once in a while, and whined no more than my son did when he last had a fever.
