There is no copy and paste on the iPod Touch. You have to remember that it is an iPod first, not a handheld computer. Why TF Apple isn't making a handheld computer I can't fathom - they would be really good at it. It must be a Steve Jobs personality conflict with the Newton or something. I think they will make one eventually, in fact the iPhone and iPod Touch will evolve into it probably.
As far as I can tell the Notes application is completely closed. No export and no import. The only way to get information to the Touch is to sync with iTunes or to enter it directly (which it only was able to do recently, the first version of the software had no Notes and you could not change the Calendar or Contacts on the Touch). iTunes has conduits built into it for syncing Contacts, iCal, Music, Videos, Photos, but not Notes - there is no Mac OS version of Notes (actually there is, Stickies - if it synced with Stickies I would be happy since I could copy and paste into Stickies and then sync).
You can replace the fans in your old desktop for like $10 each probably....
|
That is something that is still pissing me off over the entire Apple thing since I dumped my Newton.

Me too. I loved my Newton but the whole thing was a bad experience. When it became obsolete (I'm using that term loosely) and I got a Palm 500, I sold it to a guy in Germany for $400 and I got stuck with the $150 for VAT.

I am working tomorrow, the county needs to transport people all over town over this water crisis, and the school dist volunteered is buses and its fleet. I will get paid my normal work $$ to do this.... And it happens late enough that I will be able to Easter Egg hunt with my kids.

srplus go here to view the iPod Touch Features Guide. It goes through the other apps (including Windoze apps) that you can sync with, and some other stuff:
Apple - Support - Manuals

srplus I can send the contents of Notes from the Touch via email. So far this is the only way I see to export and there appears to be no way to import.

 iPod Touch Tech
There is no way to organize the Notes. It's one list of notes arranged alphabetically and the first line of the note is the title. The original Palm notes app was like this I think....
Fine for most of what i use it for - shopping lists and to do lists and URLs.

Quickly though, I was also a subscriber from the jump. There was a lot to love about the magazine but there was also a lot of top heavy fluff that did make total immersion a bit too much of a burden. I do subscribe to the RSS feed just to see what is up. I do not read the articles as often as I read the MacWorld, MacLife, PC Magazine or cNet feeds though.
Later. Enjoy your new toy and if you tire of it I know someone who would love to play with it.

You might do what I did in my Outlook... I tired of using the notes and tasks features of them because they just jammed up there and kept breeding and making new ones on their own when I was away from the computer. I changed everything over to an appointment and set all current and to be Notes as for approximately when it would be due like a credit card payment or a meeting with a client... if it is something that I will need for the entire year I have it set on the calendar for Dec 31 of the current year. When one dies or is no longer needed I either delete it or move its date to Jan 1 of the current year.
No matter what I always have access to the notes and if there is some kind of time constraint that is attached to that it is reflected in the calendar. It took a little getting used to but I have found it much better than the old way where they just piled up and never got finalized.

Hm. I will investigate the features of the Calendar.
My Palm notes are all just lists of stuff though that I need forever. The problem is that I have a lot of them and they are most easily accessed by being organized into Personal, Auto, Ophthalmolgy, etc. categories. Shopping lists, wines I like, books to read, CDs to buy, movies to rent, some passwrods (I can put these in the contacts database), recipes, parts to order for each Cruiser, the Toyota Paint Codes for my vehicles, some ICD9 codes I need often and can't remember, CPT modifiers, signs of various corneal dystrophies, settings for my cataract surgery machine (have used this twice), findings of the Herpes Eye Disease Study, ophthalmology papers to read, which HLA types correlate with which forms of uveitis, labs to get for uveitis patients, some prescription stuff I forget often, etc. etc. etc....

I've had a couple Palms, but switched to an HP IPAQ 7ish years ago. What I miss is the search for anything and everything everywhere. On the other hand it holds tons more data and more complex data at that. I keep all my farm data on it and routinely transport it to my Linux box via scp over the wireless link.

Trying to plan a vegetable garden for the house.
Fucking smallest lot in the city... Not enough room for anyfuckingthing.
I hated this house the moment I saw it.

don't reallyhave room for an 8'12 greenhouse. It'll fit, but it'll divide the garden into all sun all day, and mostly shade all day.
8x12 is IMHOP, the minimum useful size for a greenhouse.
I hate the fucking city.
