I have a mouse for the laptop but it is a PITA. It worked out easier for me to just get used to the touchpad. I disabled the "tap to click" feature and use the buttons to click. Now I am used to it the touchpad is great. It is the going back to a mouse that feels unco.

Linux wireless is a whole different can of worms. You have atheros native chips with native open source drivers (very very few cards), a few cards supported by the madwifi open source driver (these are the cards you want to buy) and for everything else you are all but forced to cobble something together using ndiswrapper and a windows driver
It works, but it's far from elegant.

Dude. Trust me--it's a Patrol and it's just not lifted. One of the things that always struck me about the Patrols I saw in OZ were that they seemed very short and very much resembled our Jeep Cherokee's here in the States . . .

the bad news is:
the old header was cracked much worse than we could see at first
it was a chrome header and had an excellent gasket I guess even those have a limited lifetime
on the steering side:
the resistance when steering to the left is not yet gone
the new diagnosis is that it's something in the knuckle
we are going to wallow in the grease mud tomorrow

Both wrong
The car in my photo is a Ford Maverick. Ford rebadged the patrol for themselves. They didn't have the smaller motors, only the 4.2L petrols and diesels and they had a higher level of trim than the patrols.

The one in my pic is lifted 5" with a 1" bodylift. It competed in the 2001 Outback Challenge in the production class.

The regular iPods are better music players. The iPod Touch has a web browser and does email and has a nice screen for watching movies. It's the right one for me because it replaces my Palm that I use every day and it replaces a laptop for me when traveling. But there are some big compromises compared to other iPods in music playing terms. The best music players are the iPod Classics with big hard drives.

is there a way to get my existing CDs onto the iPod or are they all copy protected

that was the cool thing, the bolts all came out without issue, the intake manifold was already ground to match, the washers, too
it really was the exct same header design, except for a half inch where the collector meets the tail part of the exhaust - we janked the exhaust forward a bit
I also got a custom frame hanger for the exhaust to reduce vibrations thanks to Kevin
