Somehow that doesn't sound like a compliment.
But, to get to your point about "protecting the Earth," do you agree that small meteors hit the Earth's atmosphere every day?

so aside from the facts that we:
are forcing our religion down other peoples throats
are not faithful enough to just pray for the money
are going on a holiday fishing trip
are spamming the mud community
are to ignorant to believe in evolution
are wrong for trying to raise money outside of the church
do any of you guys know of a good "generic" fundraiser?
i would like to raffle of a tractor or cruiser once a year, and then we would just have one fundraiser a year.
but we have to have time and money to do that and neither are in our favor right now.

1. Speak for yourself
2. Then why go out and recruit and why threaten people with eternal damnation and other forms of trickery. Not a student of the Spanish Inquistion where people were tortured into converting, eh?

have you ever read the bible.
Exodus 3:22
"But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; and you will put them on your sons and daughters. Thus you will plunder the Egyptians."

spanish inquistion he learned a new word today.
regardless of what so called Christians have done in the past. the God of the bible does not force anyone to convert.
and those where actually catholics not protestants, so before you make any remarks about anyone being a student maybe you should try a little thing called google.

It's TWO words "Spanish Inquisition" Capital S Capital I. So much for you learning anything new today
PS I apologize for taking part in a religious thread. If I've learned anything it's that religion is the root of all wars, including this one. Now go help the guacomole stompers and leave me alone.

Most of them miss everything in our Solar system completely, coming close to neither Jupiter nor the Moon nor the Sun. A small number do hit those celestial bodies, but then again, for every one those bodies "capture," they also pull more meteors and comets into our solar system than would happen otherwise, so it's a zero sum game. Our Earth is not protected in the way you suggested.
But on other matters, I think it's fine if you want to put a shout out here for your mission. Good luck with that.

yeah - most meteors hit nothing.
but meteors that could be on track to hit earth ( or a majority of them ) hit jupiter instead. then if they miss there they hit the moon.
let me see if i can google it
and thanks for the good luck

There is no "could be." Gravitational fields are known things. This is simple Newtonian mechanics. For every meteor that might be "pulled off its track of hitting Earth" by Jupiter's field (which actually means it never was on a track to hit Earth, it was on a track to hit Jupiter), there are meteors out there "minding their own buisiness" that have their track affected by Jupiter's pull such that they are sent on to collide with Earth (which means, in actuality, they were on a track to hit Earth from the start).
Maybe you are thinking of the theory that the presence of Jupiter prevented "long period comets" from staying in an orbit and thus pass through the Solar system more often?
Rethinking Jupiter :: Astrobiology Magazine - earth science - evolution distribution Origin of life universe - life beyond :: Astrobiology is study of earth science evolution distribution Origin of life in universe terrestrial
That's an old idea, and I don't th ink it is very protective, since it is now believed asteroids are a much greater threat than comets. And Jupiter's effect on comets isn't so great, anyway.

ok i see the point your making.
i guess i'm thinking of it as a point that if Jupiter wasn't the size it was, and were it was, and in orbit were it was. things could be much different for the earth

According to this Web site, Jupiter is actually to blame for the asteroid belt, and for sending asteroids hurtling towards Earth.

Yes, things would be much different for the Earth--Jupiter's size and placement is very important in the history of the development of our Solar system, but it does some good things and some bad things for us Earthlings.
