Best software for ipod...
I'm having some issues with i-tunes because it is so dumbed down. I have 805 songs that are "unknown artist" etc, for example. I find it is not easy to make track title/label songs without massive amounts of work. After a google search I found and bought Media Monkey and changed a lot of the tags, this was great and easy. But I can't get media monkey to successfully manage my ipod. It reaches its capacity and says the ipod is full but it is unplayable. Media Monkey also does not do podcasting and video.
I have tons of MP3s including a lot of vinyl I recorded to MP3 in college. Not to be a cheap skate but to have electronic versions I could burn onto CD for the car because its rare.
Any recommendations?
Also is it possibly to simply unlock and ipod and control everything in folders how I have it set up on my harddrive? Sure would make life easier. Otherwise I love the ipod, best gift I've ever gotten. Had it about a month and a half now..

FWIW I hated iTunes at first, but I have since come to really like it. In particular, I like how you can take blocks of files and change them all to the same artist, album genre, whatever.
Now I keep all my music on AAC filed according to iTunes but I keep a backup of the original files (with their original tags) on MP3 in case I ever need to replace the iTunes folder. Plus, like you, I burned tons of rare vinyl onto MP3. As I've sold most of the vinyl singe then, I don't want to chance losing the files. I keep the original MP3s backed up, plus a ful back-up of my iTunes folder on DVD-Rs.
10,850 songs, 43.59 gigs, filed exactly the way I want. Give it a chance, it might grow on you.

Winamp now has an IPOD plug in. I attempted to try it but ended up going back to Itunes because I'm to lazy to learn how to use it. I didn't know what the hell was up with Itunes at first but I don't mind it now. There is a fix for the problem your talking about. The Ilounge has a lot of good resources.
