Just an FYI, I saw them listed there, but you can save $3.50 on 2, or $14.25 on 1, by ordering directly from rayovac, by calling the number IdahoDoug mentions in the first post.

Late to the party

I got a look at these Ray-o-vac lights at Surf and Turf, and came home and ordered 2. They seriously rock for the $$. I also got this in the box:

"Thank you for contacting us about our products. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.

We are happy to replce your item at NO charge.

We periodically update or change some of our products. If we no longer make your item, we have replaced it with the newest version. We hope it provides you with excellent service."

What I didn't get in the box was an invoice or CC receipt.

Is it possible they sent me 2 flashlights for free? Did anyone else get this same message?

Anyway, I think I need a few more.

i didn't get the note but i did get the flashlights this weekend. they do seriously rock to the point you cannot shine them at somebody's face directly. I have 3. I was going to give 2 as gifts. Now I am thinking I need to order a few more pronto because these are going in every vehicle I own and all over my house.

IMO, very bright flashlight but I'd prefer a less focused beam. The on/off button could be a little more recessed since it has turned itself on in my bag twice. My energizer batteries rattle inside more than say a Maglight. Overall rating = 7.8/10

been watching for these in wal-mart so far nothing.

But i did try the Ray-o-vac 3w AAx2 they have there, nice little light, quite bright for its size, might be good if you are looking for a smaller light; for a review it appears to be identical to this one sold under another brand:

Replacing the rubber grip with tennis grip tape worked great, and I wrapped several wraps of clear tape around the C batteries, so there is no rattle when they are installed in the flashlight.

Not Rayovac but Costco now carries Leatherman Monarch 500 Cree Emitter with 145 lumens (as featured in their magazine).

My local branch is supposed to have them in stock this week so I'll check them out. Any feedback on them?

Here's a link to the same item on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHERMAN-MONAR...QQcmdZViewItem

why would you pay $50 for a 145 lumen when you can pay $28 for a 150lumen light?

It is smaller, has all aluminum body, and easier to find AA rechargeables...plus I wouldn't have stuck with the stupid rubber grip - just kidding!

I do hope Costco price is less than the Ebay one though - somewhere within the $30-$40 range.

NICE! I had one of these (when the 94 was OK to own in CA), also have one on the Benelli. Can't beat SureFire, IMHO you get what you pay for. I have the new LED X200 on the Glock in the bedroom, fantastic light, but I still prefer the beam of my old 6P. I also have a Z2 on the nightstand and gave the wife a 3P to carry in her purse. I've used lots of different lights, and always seem to come back to SureFires.

This would be worthy of it's own thread in the same way the RayOVac was. Lowes is just putting into stock a 2C LED that's over 150 lumens for $28. It's the new version of a light either by or called Task Force. Importantly, this new one has the legend "60X Brighter" on a red square on the packaging in obvious letters. So, if you can't find the ROV, check a Lowe's near you. My bro in law got one in Spokane, WA a couple days ago.

Just fuelin' the cheap rock and roll LED revolution!!

Darn it Doug! Went and read the reviews at CPF forums, then went and bought the Task Force 2C cree. Light output is almost identical to the Rayovac 3C 4w, it is just a little whiter/bluer, whereas the ROV is greenish (barely). Obviously run time will be probably be less, since it runs on one less C-cell. The TF is smaller, obviously, and does not have a beam focus ability, but it has flat spots on the body so it won't roll away from you like the ROV. Anyway both are good lights and well worth the $30 each.

Sweet, just looked at my bro in law's TF 2C 3 minutes ago. You're right on all counts. That's the first I've seen and actuallly I think it's a little brighter than either of my ROVs. I've heard the TF might be from a superior level of LED and this seems to indicate that is so. Nice light, Ben.

What is this Cree?

Lowe's website indicates a TF 2c that is 30X brighter...

Cree is a brand of flashlight LED module. It's currently the nicest one on the market, nearly twice as bright as a Luxeon (competing brand) with the same energy use.
