arc-p (premium). gave two of these as gifts last year and have one myself. amazing light, endless battery and bulletproof.

so I was looking at the MagLite LED replacements too.

They had 3W Luxeon LED inserts. Probably something like 100 Lumens, just guessing?

They have different modules, but all 3W, for 2, 3, and 4 C/D. Must have some sort of current limiter in the bigger ones or are they really different LEDs?

Anyway, I read that these modules show a brightness that decreases significantly when they get hot, and also that you can't use rechargeable batteries with them. Is that the case for the superduper Rayovac above too?

(and why is this thread in Chat? Too techy! )

1. I am interested in the LED upgrade not just for the practicality but just for the sake of the upgrade itself. It just seems like a cool thing to do. The nerd in me if you will.

2. It's not too techy because their so so much room for harassment for being so interested in little flashlights. People who arn't fascinated by these little flashlights just won't understand.

This is an amazing light, the best part is it'll work when I grab it from the cruiser, unlike my current MagLight, which seems to need a new bulb when I really need it. The LED should handle the jostling better. I've used a 3W LED headlamp nearly every morning on my bike, this is much brighter than that impressive light. Like my 3W, this has an intense center spot, and wide, dimmer halo of light around it. It's a great general-purpose beam, you can hardly ask for better. If only they made Lithium C-cell batteries, it'd be perfect.

Do I need to stop by Meijers and pick up a few more? They're $25 here, I bought the four they had in stock a few weeks ago.

Just spoke with Jean, and as I suspected, no record of me or an order from this zip.

She is looking into it.....

Just ordered three.

For a very small, but powerful light, I carry the Fenix P1D cree model. It has 5 output levels from 12 to 135 lumens. Very nice light.

Had to place the order again.
I was able to save a little on shipping. Original order was around
$62. This one - $59.95.

The Ray-o-vac lady said 5 days when I ordered last week. Did they say if UPS, USPS, or FEDEX would deliver it.

Man, this thing is a rock and roll light for the money. This time of year I'm regularly with other people outdoors camping and such. Friends pull out their anemic red plastic $15 lights with scratched lenses and start fumbling around for bedding, and I pull mine out to do the same and it's just laughable. Only bummer so far is that the larger Mag light would sit in the door pocket in a way I could grab it but I have to fish down in to get this one. So I'm thinking of a way to install a clip or something for that one handed "gotta light something up NOW" factor. Something that will fit in the door pocket, so in a crash its somewhat contained versus bashing around the passenger compartment.

I'm a big fan of Fenix and just noticed 7777 has a new batch of the rebel 100s. I might have to order one of those.

Certainly, I'm no white wall hunter like the guys on candlepower, but here's a comparison I did a while ago. These are all brand new batteries. Unfortunately, my surefire e2e is absent because the bulb went out just as I was taking these pictures.
