Starbuck "Drive-in" accident

I had a close call today at noon.

At Starbuck near Dumbarton bridge at Menlo Park, CA, as I was standing third in line as a circle "Jay" in the first photo, I heard a big “BOOM” right behind me so I jumped sideway without looking. It felt like a big missile with rush of air behind me. Nothing hit me except shower of glass.

I cleared up the debris on the driver side, put their auto shift in parking, shut down the engine & removed the key. I tried to calm down the driver but this middle age lady was in a state of shock. Her daughter riding with her said her mother stepped on gas instead of brake. A classic problem.

Then I turned around and ask for Venti coffee. The stunned Starbuck worker was confused at first at my request, then he served me and he declined to accept my cash. The people in the rear where coffee tables were trapped until the firemen cleared up the debris in front of the car much later.

Nobody was hurt, thank goodness.

Cheers,

More photos. Even some firemen took photos.

You still needed coffee after that. I would have had enough adrenaline to carry me for a few hours.
