Since this isn't really OT I think Chat is the most appropriate place for it, plus it'll get more exposure here. If it needs to be moved, so be it.
I currently have 15x8 rims on my 75 Torino Elite with what I'm guessing is 4" backspacing (need to measure) and I want to step up to 16x8 aluminum Torque Thrust II rims.
The problems is I can't seem to find white letter tires (a reputable brand) in a size equivalent to 245/60/15 (26.5" diameter). I don't really want a taller tire because I like how low the car sits with the 245/60's.
The closest I found, diameter wise, is a 295/50/16 but that is still 1" taller than I am now, and a bit too wide for an 8" rim.
What tire size (in a white letter, I can find plenty of blackwall tires in an equivalent size) would be close, or am I just screwed?
Alternatively, a taller tire isn't a totally bad thing, I just don't want to lose the overall stance and I'm afraid 1" will make the car look stupid. So any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I am also having a hard time finding a picture of a smog era Ford (74 and later Cougar, Torino, TBird, LTD, etc...) running 16" or 17" wheels.
As it sits now
Thanks!
