Chevy 383 stroker cam selection…

I’m building a 383 stroker and need help with the cam selection.
Here are the ones I’m looking at
Lunati voodoo 60101 & 60102
http://www.holley.com/60101.asp
http://www.holley.com/60102.asp
Unfortunately comp cams web site BLOWS. I can’t get any info on the 270h, 268h, or 272 cams- all are very popular flat tappet cams.
If you have any info to share it would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s the trucks info:
`71 GMC Short Bed =4000lb.
Running mostly 6,500 ~ 7000 ft (Albuquerque)
383 stroker
350 auto w/stock converter
3.73 rear-end
Performer air gap w/ q-jet
10:1 compression
Stock heads
I’m wanting something that will get around 12mpg, and not be embarrassed around town. Needs to be reliable, Not looking for a high rpm engine 5800 or 6000 max rpm.
I want the low end torque to pull hard off the line and get to speed quickly.
If you need more info, LMK.
DMX

Pay the extra $$$ and go hydraulic roller.

You won't be disappointed.

If you want to keep the cost down this is a set that I have used and had good results. it is a flat tappet cam. CCA-12-211-2 for more low end or CCA-12-212-2 for a little more upper end. Both are from approx 2000 -5800 rpm power cams and worked well.

If you are willing to spend $ for it rollers are the way to go. First you'll need to get roller lifters too and then you will need a thrust button timing cover. But it is definitely worth it as far as durability and power gains. Then I would recommend Crane's CRN-119831 for a strong street engine. You will also have to consider lift with you springs on a roller cam as it is usually higher.

I don’t really have the $ for a roller set-up. It will get expensive real fast, with all the necessary goodies that will need to go with it, IE: Stall, roller rockers etc. etc.
What cam brand is that PN# for?
The heads are the better cast iron ones.

No commit on the voodoo?

I realize the question's not exactly truck-specific and there are a lot of knowledgable people here, but have you tried asking around at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/ ? It'll never be 'MUD to me, but those guys know their stuff.

Yes, it's on there, (aka Sport/Truck) I'm just trying to get more opinions/experiences.
I can’t be the only guy with a chevy here.

I've got a Lunati in the race truck, been happy with it so far but whole other animal, that's a full race cam.

My first roller cam was a Lunati in a 496 BBC back in the late 80s early 90s. Loved the cam, have no experience with the cams listed.
