| Truck goes to the beach G'day Guys,
I thought I'd post a couple of pics from a recent trip we did. The trip is generally referred to as the 'Robe to Beachport run'. It takes about a day, if you stop for lunch and follows a section of beach in South Australia between the towns of Robe and Beachport. I think the 'run' bit comes from the fact that you need to time your drive to avoid high tide. In one of the images if you look carefully to the left side of the photo you can see the track coming out of the sand dunes and onto the beach. It pretty much weaves in and out of the dunes for most of it length.
Because the beach faces the southern ocean the currents come straight from Antartica so the water is always cold regardless of how hot the daytime temperature is. If you are competent snorkeller or diver you can usually catch yourself a crayfish (lobster). Although these waters are also home to some monsterously large white pointers sharks.
The prospect of getting bogged bloody miles from nowhere with our five month old daughter on board was a bit unnerving. Never-the-less it was good to have miles of beach to ourselves.
Enjoy.
