| Do people in your town pull over for emergency vehicles? By and large, drivers where I live are pretty good about pulling over and stopping when emergency vehicles come by (happened twice on the way home from work yesterday), even on busy/fast roads. I've been in some towns where no one would even slow down or move over. That really frustrates me. Someday it'll be me (or them) that needs help as fast as possible.
How are drivers in your neck of the woods?

| Yeah, people in our area will usually do whatever it takes to get out of the way. I know I've driven well up on to the sidewalk to create the necessary gap to allow them to pass, and I've seen others do it as well.

| Here and in Louisiana (New Orleans at least) they seem to think flashing lights mean "stop right where you are." Morons.

| No. And then they write op-ed pieces in the newspaper criticizing police/fire/emt for having a slow response time. Gee, I wonder if it has to do with the fact that an ambulance can sit there at the intersection trying to go though, lights flashing, sirens blaring, air horn droning, unable to go though because nobody stops?
It's especially bad on the IL side of the border.

I'll pull over everytime I see an emergency vehicle with lights on whenever it gets within a few hundred feet.. the Other day, forinstance, there was a police car running code three, about 200 feet up... so I pull over. And the asshole behind me starts blowing his horn and yelling out the window..

| In large, New Yorkers don't pull over for anything. At least here in the city.
Makes me furious.

| Here in LA, the traffic is so heavy at rush hours you sometimes can't pull over. But as a newcomer to the States, I was amazed by how disciplined drivers are here (regarding that particular matter). |

| People used to here in Fort Worth, but not so much anymore. It's a real shame, too.

Or better still, can't you just ram them?

| No, people here are put out by lights and sirens. We get the finger, and other insults. Most of them would swear on a stack of bibles (or whatever book you want to use) that we were going 150 mph and were personally out to torment them with those damn Q sirens and those annoying lights.
Someday they might need us!
