| I'm not very sentimental, especially about animals that are not my own dogs, but it was very difficult for me watching the race when he broke his leg. I don't know if I'll ever watch another horse race after that.
It just sucked. |

 | It's the lead story because it is interesting to many people. It doesn't have to be "important" to be news. |

| Horse Racing is very sad on the animals standpoint. When I was younger, I had horses and did volunteer work at Pomona and Santa Anita race tracks. I saw allot of what goes on in the racing scene. I had the opportunity to adopt a thoroughbred that was trained for racing . He had a minor injury to his leg due to improper training. I got him at CERF Certified Equine Retirement Foundation. I spent allot of time there and saw such horrors! Its REALLY sad! The deformities that are caused by racing that these horses have is simply inhumane!
They should have put Barbaro down immediately!
This is just my 2 cents!

This is just my 2 cents! | Any idea how much money they milked (literally) out of that horse during the time he was alive? I'll bet it was in the millions. |

| I think they were keeping him alive as long as possible in order to "Harvest" as much as possible. His death only sends the price of his end product up that much more. |

| From a NPR story
Richardson added that the Jacksons' main concern was for the health of Barbaro, not for the millions of dollars the colt could make as a stallion if he recovers completely.
"If this horse were a gelding, these owners would have done everything to save this horse's life," Richardson said. "I've known the Jacksons a long time. If this horse had no reproductive value, they would have saved his life."
Gretchen Jackson added: "My hope for him is that he lives a painless life. Whether that means he'll be a stallion with little Barbaros, that would be the extreme hope for him."
I hope he was a stallion. Otherwise Junk's been jerking him off for months for nothing. |
