[Pinion]

Is it me, or is there an overabundance of:

• Do these tires fit?

• How much lift, which widget fits this application?

• What color should I paint my cruiser

• Does this exhaust make my ass look fat?

type of questions lately?


Not to be an asshole, although I've been called one plenty of times, but I have always considered 40 and pig owners to be quite savvy. Lately like in the past few months I have been seeing a lot of this junk in the 40 series section. I dont expect Mud to be like the Jeep section over on Pirate, but Jesus. I come here to get info and give info but there are only so many backspacing and timing questions one can read before wondering to themselves "WTF is going on?"

I have loved Toyota pickups and 40s my entire life, mainly because they arent Jeeps and there hasnt always been a huge aftermarket for them where any jackass can pickup a catalog and bolt on a bunch of junk and go out in the woods. I have always looked at these rigs as a reflection of the individual's needs and expectations, but it seems now that possibly due to an Ebay factor that the site is just flooded with people who have bought their Cruisers because they are the next "new cool thing".

If Im coming off as an elitist or a jackass, well Im not making any apologies. If you bought the rig, do the research and make your own damn decisions about what color you want to make it, what type of exhaust you want, what seats to use, etc. If you have a question, use the damn search tool and stop flooding the site with questions that have been asked a thousand times. Maybe it has been asked, perhaps it hasnt..but you'll never know without doing a search. At least it isnt Pirate and Woody provides it free of extorted premiums.

If it bothers you, just don't read the posts.

It is obvious from most of the titles that it is a question that has been asked a million times.

Maybe it is someone that wants to get involved in conversation, but does not know enough yet to ask a question that has never been asked before.

If you don't welcome newbies and tolerate their questions (even if they ask a question that has been asked before), then this site loses new members that may one day learn enough to teach you something.

I agree with Zimm. Sometimes that "search" feature is a pain in the ass. If you don't want to answer a question skip it. But that whole smart ass "try using the search buddy" lines are lame!

there has been a ton of these easily searched or monotanous questions on the 60 section lately. I think we could use a flashing red sign thats says "easy answers for those who are too lazy to get a tape measure and check your self" in the 60's section with a little more basic faq info for them.

Or at least a link that will easily answer those questions, and is quite obvious for newbs to click on.

Maybe someone could start a thread for people to compile the basic facts to start building one.

So this thread went from Newb bashing to a "beer talking" thread. Kinda lost it's steam. I was/am a newb to cruisers and I like to ask all sorts of dumb questions because I like to get all sorts of dumb answers and have conversations with other dumb asses. That's what makes this forum so much fun, not to mention all the things I have learned about my Cruiser. Suck it up and enjoy.
