| Question about refridgeration compressor Anyone with some knowledge on refridgeration systems and compressor capacity? The compressor on my old Coke machine died and I am looking for a replacement compressor. Specifically, what size compressor should I replace the dead compressor with? The Coke machine is a 54 bottles capacity Westinghouse unit, made in the early 60's. The compressor appears to be the original unit, with Westinghouse stamped on the tag. The ID plate is too corroded for me to read the compressor rating, which is why I am asking for advices here.
A Coke machine doesn't have to maintain sub-freezing temperature like a refridgerator/freezer. Since most soda bottles will explode at or around 30F, I set my Coke machine temperature to the low 30's, usually between 31-35F.
I've been looking at various replacement compressor, and it appears that most replacement compressors range from 1500BTU/hr to 1/4 hp - 3000 BTU/hr. Being that my Coke machine is on the smaller side, should I replace it with a 1500BTU/hr compressor? How about the insulation on this old unit? Does it affect the BTU requirements? Does the R22 work better than the R134 units?
Thanks in advance!
