FJ Cruiser is a Land Cruiser, according to Toyota- I wanted to make sure all new FJ owners and prospective FJ owners read this, so I posted it in "Chit-Chat", and here as well since the pedigree of a vehicle is in my opinion considered 'tech'. If First Toy wants to delete it, he can go right ahead but I wanted to give hard evidence of the lineage of the new FJ according to Toyota's own publication here.
For a couple of months now there has been much back and forth about whether the new FJ Cruiser is a “Land Cruiser” or not. Some of the “Old Guard” FJ owners hotly dispute that the newest Toyota is not a Land Cruiser. I have come forth with hard evidence to the contrary, that the new FJ Cruiser is indeed a new series of Toyota Land Cruiser. OFFICIAL Toyota Publication
Issue :: 01 Spring 2006 FJ Cruiser catalog, which you can pick up at your Toyota dealer –
Inside this booklet on the new FJ Cruiser we are given a Time Line of Land Cruiser History:
We start with the BJ series model being introduced in 1953
1960- The 40 series is introduced.
1980- The 60 series is introduced.
1984- The 70 series is introduced.
1990- The 80 series is introduced.
1996- The 90 series is introduced. (Prado)
1998- The 100 series is introduced.
2002- The 120 series is introduced. (Prado) 2006- The new FJ series is introduced (FJ Cruiser).
So many say, “It’s not a Land Cruiser” and yet do you see any mention of a Toyota 4-Runner, Tacoma, or any other kind of Toyota in this timeline except Land Cruisers??????? This timeline, a sort of bloodline, pedigree, is proof from Toyota that the new FJ is a new Land Cruiser model.
Further, on page 9 of the same Toyota publication: “The FJ Cruiser has its daddy’s eyes, ruggedness, and can-do attitude”. Directly tying the new FJ to the older 40 in lineage.
Page 6: “Now, Toyota has chosen to revive the famed FJ name with a vehicle that, in capability, spirit, and styling, honors the heritage of its legendary ANCESTORS”. I capitalize ancestors because if the vehicle is not in the “bloodline” then it is not a Land Cruiser. The word ancestors, proves once again that the new FJ is in the Land Cruiser bloodline.
Page 2: “Over 50 years later, and over one million LAND CRUISERS sold worldwide, A NEW FJ STEPS UP, fit to carry the torch, and worthy to keep Toyota’s committed, and passionate off-road legacy moving forward”.
A “NEW FJ”, - tying it directly into the LAND CRUISER LINE, not the 4-Runner line, not the Tacoma line, not the Sequoia line. The LAND CRUISER line.
I rest my case without further comment on the subject other than to say that yes, I will put Land Cruiser stuff on my new FJ, and I encourage the same from those who feel as I do about the FJ Cruisers status in the Land Cruiser line. |
