I ran across this rocking deal on mil style water jugs...

These sure look like the SCEPTER 5 GALLON / 20 LITER WATER CANS you can find everywhere online for between $25 & $35 plus shipping.... Here they are $16.99 and you can get FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50!

Go here:

BuyLCI.com

"Shop as a guest"

Search for "water can"

I ordered 4... I'll report back in a couple of days when I receive them....

I've used mine from LCI for 4 months now. They are not made by Scepter, but are made to the same spec here in the US. They have "property of the US government" molded into the side, which isn't a problem. I laugh every time I see water cans for sale for what they go for here and on ebay. you can get 4 for the same price as one with shipping. Now if you could only talk them into making and selling the fuel cans for the same price.(yeah I know all about the regulations not allowing the MFC in the US). I have 4 and will probably buy 4 more.

I washed mine out with a bleach solution before filling them for use. I haven't noticed any bad taste.

Got my cans yesterday... they are everything I had hoped they would be. Heavy duty (mil-spec for sure) and made in the USA.... They look just like the ics and just link the "Scepter" version.

Note: Ordered on the 8th, received on the 12th... with the free shipping!

LCI ships from several locations across the country. Mine came out of Vegas so they were here in two or three days. Like has been said, you can purchase as a "guest" or set up an account.

There was a thread here or over on expeditionportal about using the water cans for fuel. It's still something I might play with adding a viton seal to. At the price, it might be worth experimenting with.

Great cans, used them in the military and they are indestructible! I bought a bunch of these for my Boy Scout Troop and they are even scout proof!

the cans are made out of High Density PolyEthylene. I believe that makes them BPA free, but that could just be the BPA affecting my memory.

I was looking for a couple of those two years ago, but couldn't find a "deal" on them anywhere. Then I found a variation on the design, same manufacturer, same durability, just a different filler/spout...

I think I paid $11(each) in a close-out sale

5 Gallon Manual Venting Water Jerry Can with CRC (Light Blue/Military Style)
  • Scepter Jerry Cans are virtually indestructible, manufacturer from high-density,unbreakable polyethylene that is rustproof, crush-resistant and non-corroding.
  • Features a reversible self-venting spout - no need to worry about separate vent closures
  • Scepter manufactures the only complete line available for gasoline, diesel, kerosene and water in a wide variety of sizes.
  • All sizes easily attach to the patented Flo n‘ GoTM hand pump.

*NOTE* If you are not sure about the quality of Scepter water cans ... if you buy one, you could easily pass it on to your grand kids after years of use. They are THAT durable, just keep them away from fire

Has anyone checked these for leakage yet?

I'd like to order 4 as well. I didnt see anything about free shipping?

Ordered 4 of these, couldnt pass on the price. Learned my lesson by procrastinating on getting more Sceptors. Thanks for the heads up woytovich.

I have had four full of water sitting on thier sides, stacked on top of each other for 4 months without a leak. I took one in my cruiser on a 3 day offroad trip without a leak. They are the same as the MWC from scepter. I think your good to go.

I just recieved my 4 and am impressed by the quality. I've never handled the fuel cans so its hard to say how they compare.

I had some ass hat break the lock of my jerrycan holder and steal one of my wedco cans that had 2 gallons of bad gas in it. The dumbass left the 2 empty cans. they probably would have been safe if they were labeled water

So this leads me to find a cheaper alternative to the "banned" $$$ cans.
Looking at the cap, it looks like it would be pretty easy to install a viton o-ring around the main cap as well as the pour spout and breather. All you would need to do would be to sand the top of the threaded portion fla,t where the orings would seat.

The only thing that might be difficult would be to make a spout with threads to match the top of the cap, and have hose barbs on the other end to accept a clear vinyl hose. Any ideas? I'm sure the HDPE is fine for holding fuel.

Thanks for your input tltaylor22

I was wondering how long it would take before someone started flipping these on ebay. Search Sceptor.

anyone verify that these can be used for gasoline? Looks like they have desert tan and green colors. Maybe 2 tan for water and 2 green for gas. It would be awesome to have high quality fuel cans for 16 bucks! So anybody do it yet???

Anyone have issues with hoseclamps? I think a small hose clamp would hold the hose on just fine. I'll have to look tomorrow, but it may be standard garden hose thread.

Other than the hose clamp being inconvenient, it might work, although the threads might allow fuel to leak. I'm pretty sure the threads are quite a bit bigger than hose threads.

I've been using these for years for jetski's and motorcycles and they work great. They just aren't convenient to carry mounted on the cruiser or very durable. They use a clear spout that threads on with hose threads and fill very fast. How are these still legal when the much higher quality scepter cans are banned?

If someone can post up pics of inside the cap and top of the opening we could see if these are designed like Sceptors, or may accept a viton seal as mentioned earlier.

The Sceptor MWC's have a tapered mouth and corresponding lid. I havent received mine yet to check.

Heres a pic i "borrowed" showing the mouth on a Sceptor MFC for comparison sake.

And a pic of my Sceptor MWC mouth.

This place has new 20l steel NATO oil cans for $20 plus shipping... (buying 4 would get them to me at about $25 each shipped.)

These are not fuel cans per se... they have a wider mouth and this supplier doesn't have spouts that fit but I'll bet there are some out there!

NATO OIL CAN, 20L
