Winch won't disengage

Every once in a while when I'm not towing Noah out of the mud, I run the cable out and back in to keep the juices flowing.

Now for some reason, I can't get the lever to disengage and run free. It goes about half way back and stops.

Not really looking forward to pulling the thing out of there. It's mounted to a seperate steel bracket to the frame rather than the bull bar which is aluminum.

Any thoughts?

Does it feel like it's binding? Like the gear isn't meshing so the lever is locked out? Get this moved to outfitting so you can get some more help.

You may have to remove winch, dismantle and re-grease everything. Warn does a lousy job of greasing; levers and stuff will rust up and freeze. Use Amsoil grease for a better running winch.

Try applying pressure to the lever while bumping the switch to power the winch in and out.
