Fishing Suggestions Western Oregon?

Hi Everyone,

Going to be taking the family down the Oregon coast in August. Would like to do some lake/river fishing. Any suggestions for places to pull into? Don't give away your family secrets, but any help would be great!

Going south on 101 to Coos Bay then East over to Crater Lake then back north to Canada.

Thanks a bunch!

PM Fly Rod. He is a guide in that area.

Good luck.

You can check the fishing reports for the salt out of Coos Bay. As far as down here, around CL, end of August is the start of the fall run of steelhead. You might catch some out of the Grants Pass area. Trout fishing is generally weak mid August. There are some creeks with trout on the way to CL. Terrestrial pattern like ants, beetles and hoppers should work.

Bow season opens end of August and that is what I focus on at that time.

Have a great trip!

Find a fly shop on the coast as you drive South. Ask if there are any sea run cutthroat in the estuaries. They may be moving around at that time.
