The Emerald ash borer is the one they are worried about up here. It's in PA and Ash is one of the species people bring to burn. It also makes up a large percentage of our forestry production. They were talking about it on the news yesterday.

For untold thousands of years...the flora and fauna has been changing. It is the way of the world.

Some species die out, others replace them, that is "natural". Man...trying to manipulate and control everything that happens to suit himself is the "un-natural" part.

I remain unconvinced that the movement of certain insects around the U.S. (or anywhere else) is going to cause the serious doom and gloom that tree hugging, Sierra Club, Evironmentalists predict.

Sorry, but I vote for letting the man take his own firewood where ever the hell he wants to without being impositioned, you'd think he was hauling around nuclear waste. Do the same authorities that would confiscate his firewood make certain that he doesn't leave the state with any of theirs?

To employ this preventitave "logic" further...shouldn't his vehicle and all possesions be inspected (and perhaps sprayed) just in case something is in there?

There is a good chance the family dog has a flea or two on him, God only knows what kind of effect that could have on things. I mean...if we let this go unchecked, we will soon have flea epidemic.

People will suddenly be washing their dogs in masse, the soap and chemicals they use will end up in our drinking water (I'm sure of it), probably in our streams and rivers too.

Smaller dogs might be washed in a tub or sink. The hair from the animals will no doubt clog some of the drains, causing the homeowner to go and buy some drain cleaner..then we have MORE chemicals in our water (oh no).

Or maybe the homeowner elects to call a plumber. But, the plumber now swamped with calls from frantic pet owners with clogged drains can not find time to get to them all during regular business hours. So, he has to work on weekends and put in overtime, naturally his prices go up (emergency service) and no one wants that.

So, I guess when we look at that way, you might be right.

How on earth did this ecosystem manage to survive before all these "feel good" regulations?
I want some of what he had.
