Camp kitchen finished pics

Well, it's done and ready for the trip round Lake Superior. I spent the past two days readying the trailer with new struts to hold the top up with the RTT on it and fresh paint on the interior and fenders. Then finishing the plumbing on the CK to accept water from the truck.

First photo is of the unit in full set up and a couple of the interior end storage spaces with the propane and the water inlet. Cutting boards slide out of each side for added cutting surface and to support the grill. I also have a couple slat tables that I usually put the grill on and as a place for the bar.

Next, the dish towel rack, the paper towel rack and the propane stalk with a Coleman lamp that hooks to the main tank in the storage to the right and hooks into the two burner stove as well as the BBQ. Trailer in the background with nice fresh interior paint.

Then, The spring hold open devise and the unit closed for transport.

The legs are adjustable each for height.

The box is made from 3/4 inch oak ply for the bottom with solid oak runners where the legs fold under and the body is made from 1/2 inch birch ply held together with Gorilla glue and screws. The front is from one piece of ply to keep the look uniform and attractive. All finished off with three coats of Polyurethane.

The top is a granite looking Formica laminate.

The hinges are marine chromed brass piano hinges.

The closing hardware is marine chromed brass cabinet latches.

There are lifting rings on each end so the crane needed to lift the thing into the trailer has something to grip on to.

The two red Anvil cases house the propane lamp and the grill for transport. I worked at TORO as a freelance photographer for some time and one day when I got to work they were cleaning out the equipment closet and had 50 or 60 cases sitting in the hallway. One of the photographers asked me if I wanted some cases and I couldn't turn them down. I told him I would take a couple and he asked me if I had my truck . I said yes and he told me to fill it up. So I did. 22 cases fit in the back and came home with me. SCORE.

The overall dimensions are 69 inches long, 17 inches high and 16 inches deep. The unit will fit into the trailer with bout 1.5 inches on each end and takes up bout half of the width. It will also fit in the back of the truck But I'm not sure iI want that behind me in an emergency stop! The height is a perfect fit with 1/2 inch between the top of the unit and the support bars of the trailer topper. I put black foam pipe insulation on the support bars to hold the unit from bouncing and 3/4 "L" channel bolted to the trailers 3/4 plywood floor insert to keep the unit from shifting sideways and to act as a guide when loading the thing back into the trailer. I put ply in the trailer so I wouldn't have to drill holes in the water tight floor of the trailer.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome, as always.

The faucet is a single twist top and the water connects through the back via a hose to the truck with the onboard tank and on demand pressure pump. Water on, pump on, water off pump off. West Marine...

If you look at the photo with the red checkered dish cloth, in the storage aria in the back is the inlet for the H2O. Here are some shots of the water hose from the truck and the inlet on the outside back of the unit.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Very nice. I have seen setups at Lambeau from tailgaiters. You look like you could be a Packer Fan with that awesome set up.

Very nice design and details! How much does she weigh? Looks like it might be more than a 1-man job getting in/out of the trailer?

There is a reason it is in the trailer. I think the only downfall is the weight. I guess around 60 lbs and that is empty. It's basically a sheet of 1/2 Birch ply and a 1/4 sheet 3/4 Oak ply and a ton of screws. The unit stand alone is not bad but when you add the extra stuff like propane tank and cook stuff it adds a bit. Getting it in and out is easy with one person. Slide it half way, drop one set of legs, slide it almost all the way and drop the other set. They lock in and then you just wiggle it around till you get it in position.

Very nice. Only problem I see, is that you just added another project on my list of things todo. Once I have my trailer built, I will be looking to build a camp kitchen. Thanks for posting.

Holy smokes thats nice.

Let me know when you come through Munising [Central U.P.] and you can rest at the lake if you'd like.

Maybe we can even cook some fish on your mobile kitchen.

Maybe even some of these fish!!!

Northern Pike are great eating! All you have to know is how to get rid of all rib and back the bones. Depending on my timeline... I might just take you up on that. I used to fillet 1800 lbs of White Fish a day so I am pretty handy with a knife.

When I lived in Minnesota, we used to eat Walleye Pike, not the Northerns. As I recall they were pretty good.

Maybe get a cutting board to fit over the sink when not in use. Give ya some more space right next to the stove...good looking unit as is.
