Recovery Strap vs. Snatch Strap?
Anyone prefer one over the other?
Is the elasticity of the Snatch Strap that much better? mmm, semantics maybe but usually IIRC, most folks tend to speak of recovery and snatch straps interchangeably (the latter is clearer) (i.e. with stretch) in contrast to tow straps (no stretch).
whether you want a snatch strap of not depends on what you want to do with it, of course. Yes snatch straps have something like 20% stretch built in. Interesting...
I ended up with the plain ol' recovery strap. __________________ 1981 FJ60 - Martha’s Vineyard - 210K, OME, BFG ATs, MAF header, hi-flo cat and Magnaflow, Surco Safari Rack, Rod Racks. 2002 UZJ100 - Brooklyn - 44K, OME 865, OME T-Bars, TJM T-15, TJM RB8, Slee Diff-Drop, Slee Tube Sliders, African Outback Roof Rack, Borla & SLP Exhaust, Warn, IPF, PIAA, Toyo Open Country ATs. FWIW Mac I carry both. But have used the recovery strap/tree saver (20'; non-stretch) numerous times...but have never used the "yank"/"snatch" strap (stretch type).
I also carry a 50' blue syn line just in case my winch line isn't long enough...I've used this one too. And I also carry and have used a Snatch Block. You'll also want to carry about a minimum of 4-bow/D shackles (typically 5/8"). __________________ Modded '99 for overlanding/exploring: 35's, 4.88's, AO drawers, Slee rr, TJM fr, ARB fr locker, ear candy, Waeco CF-50, PowerGate with 2nd battery, home brew sliders & t-case skid plate, 9.5XP/X-line, LF 170's, OEM 864's, Foxes x 4, 12mm BL, Carl's UCAs, ...
