Mombasa Outdoors Large Rtt

I got a chance to check out the preproduction model of the Large RTT from Mombasa (Thanks Mel!). The large model is 15" wider than the current Expedition series. The mattress is 70"x91" . The Production model Will be made in a RIP-STOP coated cotton canvas while this one is in the rubberized nylon.

We are expecting to have these in stock by August.

I've been talking to Mel about the larger size for a while now too. Looks good. I wish they increased the size of the door to be wider with the larger tent. Did they increase the strength under the platform/ladder area or is it just the same as the smaller version? It appears to be the same, i was hoping they would put some diagonal bars under the floor that connect to the ladder for extra support.

I don't have the exact weight, but just by lifting my regular size tent and this one, the weight difference is not much.

The trailer is a Sherpa II rear load from Outlander.

I think the trailer that Phil had was the Sherpa, which was sold when he sold the 2nd gen 4runner.

Comparing this to the Eezi-Awn 2200, and the Autohome Overland large, I'd say its a smokin deal.

Mombasa is clearly getting more advanced. I am going to put more rough miles on my old school before I upgrade, but that would be an excellent family tent.

Seriously that is looking nice, but for the $275 I paid for my original, I will wear it out before upgrading!

Any idea if that new awning will fit the 1st gen tents? I'd be all over that fo' sure!
