I have a 2007 HZJ79 Landcruiser and I was wondering what rooftop tent would fit best. I have been reading about EEzi-Awn and I am quite impressed. My only question is whether it can just fit in the cab section of the vehicle.

Thanking in advance for your replies.

Roof-Top-Tent (aka cartoptents) is rolling out their Adventure Series tent soon. It's basically a punched out version of the Expedition Series tent measuring 6' x 7'10", which is bigger than the old style they discontinued. I've got pics and dimensions if anybody wants to check it out.

Does anyone lash stuff to the top of the RTT? Like surfboards or kayaks/canoes?

that is our dilemma - we often travel with a 17 ft canoe. This is a very light fiberglass boat at 50 lbs, but I'd have use foam blocks on the RTT hardshell case, or fab a dedicated crossbar extension. And I'd have a roof height that I may have to pay attention to on some rural underpasses.

YES I do realize the canoe will have to come off to use the tent. On ExPo there is a guy who built a secondary roofrack to hold his boats above the RTT.

Anyway, thought I'd ask.

Im sure you won't have a problem... i mean after all, they're made to carry the weight of two people sleeping in it. So closed, double stacked it shouldn't be a problem. In fact, i've walked over mine several times to get to the front of our rack.

Just make sure whatever you're mounting the tent too is strong enough to hold such combined weight.

Autohome previously offered their Overland tent in a half size, as in it folded the long way but was big enough for two people. Try contacting Mike to see if he can still get one. I think that would be ideal if you didn't want to increase your overall height.

That is the OverCamp - just 26" wide - 1/2 the rack. I have a couple in stock. Surfers and kayakers love them. This the OverCamp...

GB -

I guess that I was so ticked off at my turkish colleague that I did not see your post. The Small OverLand is 51"W X 87" long, and may be mounted to open to the rear or to the side. It is 51" X 43-1/2" when folded up. Its a very nice tent for someone who wants a small package that leaves room on the roof for other gear. Weight of the small OverLand is 95 lbs.

Hey Mike, how much is the overcamp? (I just PM'd you before I found this thread...my bad, ignore the question I asked) I'm glad you have a couple in stock...it's exactly what I need so I can carry my boats. I believe you said you are in Reno?

Our warehouse is in Sparks, NV. Customers may pick up tents there and save crating and shipping charges.

The small OverCamp is $1299 ready to use. The ones I have in stock are special order and use the same fabric as our famous OverLand tents - Gray with a blue top.

Spring's almost here and so are Rubithon and CM08. I'm doing a can't be beat Spring sale on Roof-Top-Tent's Expedition Series RTT. Put your refund to good use and email me at tentsontop@yahoo.com and I'll set you up right!

You can check it out at the company's product website Car-top-tent - Products

Mike,

I just ordered a medium Columbus varient from your local guys in Sparks! Can not wait to get it. I was down there a few weeks ago and looked at a small Magnollia and the Columbus. Had to have it. Great quality for both RTT's!

The guys at Totally off-road are great to work with, and I have a lot of confidence in them. They like our product. Thanks for ordering, and for the positive comment.

Send me pictures?

For the guy who wants to carry surfboards: I ordered the Maggiolina Grand Tour from Mike (should be arriving any day, right?) because it takes cross bars on top of the RTT. My goal is to be able to crank the tent open with boards on top at night - convenient and keeps them beyond the reach of those pesky banditos.

Container arrives on Sunday at the port of Oakland. A couple days and we should have it at the warehouse. I hope to begin shipping Friday or Monday. Lots of tents to ship!

Thanks!
