A run with Ottawa boys end of July

So with the lack of interest in our own club for a July / August run i have decided to hook up with Louis Skebo from Ottawa for one of their more challenging runs. Tentively it is near the end of July but the date will be determined between Louis and myself.

Mike, i hope you can make it for this one as i enjoy wheeling with you.

Louis, fill us in on what we will need to complete this run, what kind of wheeling, what kind of accomodations, bug infestation etc.

I have been looking forward to wheeling with Louis for quite some time, he has a kicking HZJ79 that he wheels and it will be good to see it in action in person.

as far as i know if you have the time off and the desire to try something new then you are welcome to join in.

Hi Guys,

I'll be making a few local runs in the next couple of weeks in order to see what kind of difficulty I can find. Obviously it has to be pretty hardcore, no sense getting everyone to come here for a sunday drive

It'll most likely be 33's, a lift, 1 locker, some sliders possibly, I'll know better shortly.

I will be getting my longfields shortly and then I can get in do my front diff and fix my front locker.

As for the exact date I will be working on that with my wife - she is the bread winner so I make plans around her - or I don't get money to buy cool things for my truck

If I don't think the trails are good enough around here then we will just head up to Weir quebec as there is some good wheeling there, ie. 1 locker, 33's sliders for the wagons, body damage is most likely on the longer wagons unless you have some good lift.

I'll post pics and give a trail brief when I get the info.

I'd love to be there but i'll by doing a expedition in the gaspe peninsula from july 25th to august 1th. Anxious to see which weekend you decide.

I'm just checking my schedule now, will figure it out and let everyone know.

How is everyone with rock wheeling, if we make a couple of days out of this we could go up to chertsey quebec and drive on rocks all day, everything from stock trucks with open diffs to buggies with huge tires - and everything in between. I don't believe there is any mud there.

Eric Leblanc knows the area well and maybe he could lead if he is around.

I am scoping out the local trails around here starting next week.

i have a cottage south of bancroft we can use as a base camp if anyone knows of trails in that area ?
a bed for everyone and full conveniences . just putting it out there ,i have verry little knowledge of wheeling in that area .

definitely a nice area. i'm tryin to get some info on local trails from a cruiserhead i know in the area. there's a bunch! there's lingham lake, long mallory/near bon echo lake, the largest marsh in ontario, a couple hydrolines, etc.. just gettin more info...

here's that huge marsh to play in...

my summer's packed, but ill do my best to get out there, i should at least make one good run out! sheesh!

I've checked out some of the old stomping ground and there are some interesting spots, I'll be going on a good run next week, will take some pics.

Anyone feel like having some events during this little outing? Maybe a timed course, sand hill climb, winching task, and more - to see what you and your trucks can do?

It is about an hour drive. But I am going back up in that area this week to check out some other trails, could be some water there for you

That water hole I went through is usually dry this time of year, one dry spell and it is gone, but I suspect that with the amoutn of grounf water we have now it will be staying all summer.

Just ran another trail close to the last one, very technical, a nice long and tough trail. I came close to going over a couple of times. Very scenic with beautiful lakes and nice camping spots.

With just the two trails listed above would be a full weekend. If you want rooms at a resort or hotel near by it would be good to make reservations sooner than later.

Are you guys coming or what??
