New Arrival in Ontario
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm proud to say that in early August my 1983 Saudi spec FJ40 arrived in my driveway (Sarnia). It wasn't easy!
I did a frame off restoration here (I live in Saudi) that basically took a year (and a bunch of $) and then another year and a half as a driver while doing the finishing touches.
It departed Dammam in May, went to India, Spain and Montreal in a 20' container and then by rail to Toronto. The Montreal stop delayed it for 2 weeks while agriculture Canada inspected it. Toronto customs was a breeze.
It's a gem - started out with very minor rust and I took a lot of pains so it will run another 25 years without problems. I had less than 72 hours from when it got "home" till I had to come back to Saudi, so I couldn't get it registered - but I'll be back.
My current project is a white 1984 FJ40 that is better than the '83 (you always get better the second time around) - it too will be in my driveway one day.
Here's a pic of the '83 at home and in Saudi. KSA is Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
cheers
