Noxville cleanup May 4th

I found this on Pirate and since it's close to me, I'm going to attend and was hoping to have some of you along with me. :usa:

It's located North of Lake Berryessa near Napa. Post up if you can attend, please.

Go here for more details:
Knoxville OHV Clean-Up - May 4th, 2008 - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

"With every trail in the US facing closure to our sport, we have yet another chance to stand up and take responsibility.

Deputy Mark Warrington of the Napa County Sheriff’s Department has released this years date for the annual Knoxville OHV Clean-Up.

The clean-up will be taking place May 4th, 2008. Deputy Warrington has asked all participants to arrive at The Hunter Creek Campground at 8:00 AM (Directions below).

Please bring any cleaning supplies you can. This would include as many large trash bags as possible, rakes, shovels, gloves, trailers, etc.

A kick-ass BBQ lunch is provided FREE OF CHARGE. So RSVP with Deputy Warrington at mwarrington@co.napa.ca.us

Knoxville OHV is one of the last public trail and shooting areas in Northern California.

At roughly 30,000 acres, Knoxville is home to an assortment of easy to medium trails, several types of wild game, camping, and rifle and pistol shooting ranges.

Knoxville OHV is located about an hour Northeast of the City of Napa. It’s a beautiful drive that runs across Lake Berryessa.

DIRECTIONS:
FROM NAPA, TAKE HIGHWAY 121 (MONTICELLO ROAD) TO HIGHWAY 128 ( MOSKOWITE CORNERS) , TURNING LEFT ON TO CAPELL VALLEY ROAD. CONTINUE TO “TURTLE ROCK BAR” AND TURN RIGHT ON KNOXVILLE BERRYESSA ROAD TOWARDS SPANISH FLAT RESORT. CONTINUE ON KNOXVILLE BERRYESSA ROAD FOR ABOUT 25 MILES CROSSING ABOUT 8 LOW WATER CROSSINGS, TO MILE POST MARKER 32.00. TURN LEFT ON THE GRAVEL ROAD (DEVIL’S HEAD ROAD) AND MEET AT THE INFORMATION CENTER ABOUT 1/2 MILE UP THE ROAD.

I haven’t decided if I will be camping the night before, or if I will leave in the morning. It really depends on if anyone wants to meet in Napa so I can guide them up the hill.

Remember, if you’re interested in going, shoot Deputy Warrington an e-mail at mwarrington@co.napa.ca.us, or PM me for more details."

I think I'm going but I'm going through Winters, not Napa. A lot closer that way from where I am coming from. Look at maps.google.com for Knoxville, CA

Sorry, I didn't even look at the directions, but I'm guessing that most of us will be going there either through Fairfield, or through Winters (I too will be going through Winters).

Google Maps to Chevron

Please post up if you're going.

Those I know of that are going so far:

I'm going but I may not meet up with you at 7:15am. My in-laws are in town but they are leaving early Sunday morning. Don't know exactly when. I know where Knoxville is. Been there more than a few times. Too bad there hasn't been some rain. We could've crossed a few streams.

I should be able to make it. Not sure if I will meet you guys there, or at the gas station. I'm kind of leaning more towards camping. Probably no fire permits this time of year?

I looked at this site and appears fires are alright as long as you are responsible.

Atoyot, I can't believe I missed you!!! Where were ya??? We had to take the long way around due to the triathlon that closed the quick route, left us with 2 hours to clean. We made the most of it and found a fairly large camp site that disrespectful campers had left shell casings, broken glass, a wash machine, and a propane tank amongst other items. Lunch was fantastic, Thank you very much Deputy Warrington and crew!!!!!! And a huge thanks to the rest of the volunteers (And Justin and Peter who who were our scenic route tour guides) who were kind enough to donate their time cleaning up after those who don't care if our trails are under attack. I didn't torque down my axle flange bolts properly and had all of my driver side bolts come close to backing out. I tightened them back down, and all was good, but I missed going with a small group on some hill climbs. Justice served... Now for some pics!!!

I went and Saturday night and camped. I was actually planning on going up that way anyway and then noticed the clean up was the same weekend. I filled a few trash bags and then took off early. I was just still exhausted from the prior week and was looking to get away from people and work! I went down to the lake and just slept in the sun like an iguana. BTW I saw a guy in Winters with a green FJ40. Didn't get a chance to meet him but I saw his rig a few times in the area. I think it had diamond plate on the rear quarters and jerry can holders on the back. Almost looks like I'm in Australia!
