Tustin Man Killed In Off-Road Accident
05-27-2008 4:54 AM

(San Bernardino, CA) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating an off-road crash in the high desert that killed a Tustin man Saturday. The San Bernardino County Coroner's Department says 28-year-old Darin Fralick lost control of the off-road vehicle he was operating, flipping it several times about 10 p.m. The "San Bernardino Sun" reports the crash occurred near Rasor Road in a recreational area about nine-miles southwest of the 15-Freeway. Fralick was pronounced dead at the scene.<

Sounds like a memorial weekend high speed pre-runner thing. Sad. Hopefully booze wasn't involved.. but it probably was at that time of night. I know where that is and i know what happens out there. I feel sorry for his family.

Sad either way, more so if it was preventable.

I hate to say it, but after viewing the YouTube piece, I'd lay even money there was alcohol involved in this tradegy. Even the young ones aren't invincable!

I Googled his name to see if there was any other details on what happened. Looks like he was riding a quad and rolled it at high speed.

Nobody is invincable, no matter how much you think you are. ;)

The thing about a situation like this is that we have all done something stupid, risky, or due to nievety (spelling?) that could or should have gotten us killed or seriously injured. You know you have. The fact is that most of us get away with it. Unfortunately Darin did not. It is also possible that he did everything right and s*** just happened. Either way he didn't deserve it he just "won" the worst lottery.

The thing about invincibility is that everyone has it. Some have it all thier lives, some lose it along with thier life, and some lose it but get to keep thier lives. The key is to acknowledge it, respect it, and appreciate it because once it is gone you can never get it back.

Re: Darin Fralick

My name is Travis Hogarth. I don't need to go under a phony name to let the world know that Darin Fralick did not die because he was drinking carelessly and driving his quad. I understand that there are some people that do that, but this wasn't the case. Darin was a seasoned rider, someone I'd trust my son with, and the kind of guy mothers hope their son will be like. PERIOD! His accident was just that... AN ACCIDENT. So if anyone has a question as to how such a thing could happen, sometimes in the ATV or MotoX life, it just does. It doesn't always involve drugs and/or alcohol. I've seen Darin ride and he was always extremely cautious. It just happened to be a dark night and the dunes can be tricky, even in the middle of the day.

I'M the one that put the YouTube tribute up. Don't assume because he's got a cup in his hand, that he's drunk, or even that it's alcohol. Darin was a caring and loving person that I looked up to and called a brother. So be careful of assumptions, because it makes you looks stupid.

Thanks for clearing this up.

First off Travis I am very sorry for your loss. I understand your frustration but the fact is that a majority of the time a young person is taken in a tragic manner such as Darin, at that time of day, on a weekend and/or holiday alcohol or drugs are involved. As I said above even if alcohol or drugs were involved he did not deserve to die. I am very glad you found us and cleared up the circumstances of Darin's accident and his character. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends.

Travis - I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks for subscribing to post this.
