Yes Flipflops are awesome, but I never work in them (at least not when I'm doing anything substantial or involving heavy items) If you haven't had the pleasure of a 1/2" ratchet and socket drop on your foot keep it up and you'll always throw on the boots. I wont even mention the the feeling of a 38" tire mounted and slipping off the hub onto my foot feeling.

5'8" on my good days, lol. Mind you the 4th tire is not even stacked. I'll bring brad over and have him stand next to that for a pic lol (he's like 6'3").

Thanks guys hope to run a trail or two with each of you at some point this summer.
I was gonna let it go, but I cant allow you to grievously short change me like that....I'm 6'5"

btw, my offer is still out there, need help anytime just gimme a call

That tire and wheel combo is going to look sweet Sammy! I am looking forward to hearing how those Nitto's do on an 80. Hopefully they will do your rig justice.

No pics of the wheels? Are they a true beadlock version of your old wheels? They have to be black, but let's see them! Jealous, er I mean inquiring minds want to know.

Pablo that has to be the most tricked out BBQ tool I have ever seen. Do you really have that and the flamed hot rodded gold metallic BBQ to go with it? If so I have got to see them in person some time.

They are indeed black and they would have been true beadlocks, but after reading several articles on the whole beadlock thing it seems that unless you are running them on 15" rims or your have the double beadlocks (front and back) they don't help very much can in case of blowing a bead on the trail on the inside wall, they would cause a lot more trouble and headache than a regular rim. Therefore I went with a simple rim, steel, strong, and affordable. I

If anything I'd go with the Staun internal beadlocks. They actually work for the larger rim sizes.

Good points indeed. They do require regular maintenance, like we need anymore of that. I have heard nothing but good about the Stauns.

(The story behind that is that a guy out in Florida put the 60 body on an 80 frame and sus with american muscle power.)

I pulled the A-Pillar to the C Pillar section and the windshield. So luckily there will be no need for Plexi or lexan front window, which after doing my research was niether cheap nor desirable when compared to factory glass.

If you mean that Al's doing the same thing, I'm totally aware, but the 60 I saw was white and in california.

Sounds good. I should have an idea of when she'll be done by next week.

Yeah, I was referring to Al's build.... guess the Florida, American mussel part got me confused.

Keep up the good work.

Photo and update

I paid a visit to the truck while she's being taken care of by Bob at BENGELS Offroad in SD. The work on the truck is AWESOME. I'll let the pic speak for itself. One is all you get for now. Anyone contemplating any work on their rig needs to pay a visit to Bengels.

I think you are the only one that calls them Bengels Off-road. Everyone else probably calls them Bengels Street Rod from the looks of it...

Oh and that was no where near enough of a teaser shot.....

ah, it's finally starting to look like a convertible.... neat!

the window frame of the doors looks a bit out of place for a sport coupe, IMO

how you gonna hold the windshield in?

sunroof

here's the panel material I was talking about.

(crappy lighting inside) but I have clear .090" thick Lexan too, if you wanna show off those sweet welds. It'd be rock resistant and sticks wont go thru it. But when you scrub it against a tree it'll scratch.

you could attach it with rivets, and then seal the edges with silicone and make it water proof.

OR!
you get a dozen of those clamps for flashlights, and we just clamp it straight to the tubes. That would be sweet!

(i'm gunna need more pics to see what size material you need!)
