I can't find the pic now but someone had a Marshmallow gun and I was wondering if those are really $28 COOL? I have a trip next weekend with old friends and Hijinx and Pyrotechnics are a key ingredient on the trip. So I thought wailing marshmallows at their kids face at 50 mph would be fun for me!

Nice and clean. Quick stop in La Rumarosa before we hit the muddy trails.

Fully loaded down and prepared for anything, well almost anything.

Baja California

Nearing Laguna Hanson

Our campsite

Boyd brought these mini marshmallow guns, pretty fun! Boyd and Stan's son Jeff Smith getting ready to blast us.

Steve (619Toy) and Chris with Steve's dobie relaxing near the fire.

Some locals; David and Alfredo let me ride there horse around and sold us a truck load of Ponderosa pine to add to stash of wood. In the morning everything left out was frozen.

Airing up for some highway time.

Boyd, lost his pants somewhere?

This is a pretty famous stretch of road for photographers of the Baja 1000. Straight, up hill, haulin as*. Go Stan go.

Steve (619Toy)

Right turn to Mike's Sky Ranch

Stan....Steve...Boyd

Rolling into Mikes.

Mike's Sky Ranch. Cervasa's, Carne Asada burritos, relaxation.

Boyd about to throw Garrett in, not. The water was about 50'!

In Mikes.

This little guy was in the back of a truck. We left him some water and said goodbye to Mike and thanked him for a great lunch.

On the way to the National Park, Parque Nacional San Pedro Martir and the Observatory.

Local coyotes

Mt. Diablo. The highest point in Baja California

The National Observatory, largest of three on the mountain.

We lucked out and got a full blown tour of the telescope and observatory. Climbing the stair case.

Our rigs from the catwalk.

Garrett with Mt. Diablo in the background.

Pacific Ocean from the observatory.

Group running down the mountain.

The mountain is comprised of mainly granite which is constantly decomposing. Lot's of debris.

On the road to Colonet

In Colonet we decided to head to the beach for lunch. On the road to Erindera.

Lunch stop just north of Erindera.

Boyd and Lightning (aka Bubba)

Setting up for lunch. Stan que'd some marinated Carne Asada. Oh man that was good.

This is the El Palomar Restaurant and store in Santo Tomas. A classic stop for gas, beer and ice for over 30 years.

In line at the border stop in Tecate.

Awesome folks, epic views, great wheeling. Can't wait till next time .

Steve and Chris's Photos

Steve-

Can you drop your and Chris photos on photobucket or another server so we can upload them? You took some great shots and I want them. Also Kevin was going to burn some DVD's for all of us and he could add yours.

Thanks

Your site is looking good Kevin!

Thanks for the Overland Journal, read it cover to cover. Nice article of Pasquales rig and the photo of the two guys on bikes overlooking the lake in Bolivia, awesome.

I'm going to Anza Borrego this Sunday, Monday to do some exploring and hiking if your interested.

I made two more cobblers at home this week and the last one was perfect. Next time we camp I'll get it right.

I'm ready for the next trip.....

Great trip, man am I jelous. I spent alot of time when I was younger south of the border in San Felipe and Ensenada, but mainly to relax and drink a few beers. But have always wanted to get into the hills. Did have a few bad run ins that have kept me from going back. Bandits, break downs, camp ran-sacked etc.

Looks like the my beach and toys club will be taking a Mojave Trail run in March over easter, can't wait.

PabloVTA is out of the office now.

He can't be reached. Don't even try.
He read some web site and the last thing heard from him by co -workers was some mummbling and expletives as he ran out the door.

His email address is now discontinued.
Last we heard he's buying peaches and a Dutch Oven.

F@C$ that was a sick trip. I so flippin jealous right now.
Who'da thought, snow in Mexico?

IS there any video? I just wanna overdose tonight when I show this thread to the wife.

I took a couple of short vids, one as I walked around the cat walk at the observatory and a few more dousing the rig going through a couple of mud puddles on the way to Laguna Hanson. Nothing to get excited about but I'll try posting them here.

It really was just one those trips I'll never forget.

Man that is an amazing trip indeed. I can't get over seeing Laguna Hansen with water in it! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Punta Colonet. The best right I have ever caught on the south side of that point. I had to stop and catch my breath and think of something else to do the ride was so long and it took me almost 10 minutes to paddle back. Too bad it will all be gone soon. Great trip and great pictures, thanks to all for sharing.

They are stupid fun. Or should I say, fun until the stupid wears off.

I was given the set as a gift and enjoy them; but I don't think I would ever buy a set myself.

No, thats not my goal. I have never and will never charge for trips or guide services. I am a firm believer in exploring and think its crazy to try to charge some $ for showing them something new.

Just getting people outdoors and away from their TV's is more my goal!

Example, most of the places i guided you guys through were shown to be by a friend who was shown by a friend, who found it by just going out and exploring, etc....

I am all about getting out and having a good time and chilling with the friends.

The thoughts of all the legality and red tape BS, and liability that would be involved in charging for this experience would remove all "fun" out of it for me! Especially in Mexico!

Nice pics guys!
Looks like it was indeed an Epic trip.

Glad you found the road from Mikes to the National Parks. We did that almost three years ago, after a rain, and the wildflowers were insane.
Also is the road paved all the way to the entrance to the Park? That looked new in your pics? The last time we went through it was all dirt.

And if you want really epic, we should start think about climbing El Picacho Del Diablo.

Thanks again.

I need to get back down there.
