11/27 run version 2.0
So a friend of mine offered me and anyone else the use of his property that is within the state park near split mountain. I am planning on going there Thanksgiving evening with my little camper towing my rig. What I know of the property is that it is around 30 acres, has a well, a bathroom, an in-ground generator and a 2,000 sqr ft covered deck and room right around there for at least 10 RVs. I will be visiting it and getting keys this Sunday so I will be able to provide more info like GPS coordinates and directions.
I was thinking this is a perfect place to end our run on Friday, have a fire and hang out and for those who want to camp and go for a run the next day, it's would work well. I would leave Saturday afternoon but it could be possible for some to stay another night. I plan on bringing it up at the BnT meeting tonight and will likely get as many as 3 takers.
Post up if this is of interest to anyone.
Mike

So I ran out there Sunday. The property is just a little ways from the Ranger Station Rd at the entrance to Ocotillo Wells Offroading area and has views towards the mountains to the southwest. It is 40 acres, has running water for an outside/enclosed shower. The deck has tables, chairs and a woodstove to hudle around. There is also a fire pit away from the deck. It is well connected to roads that lead to Split Mountain. I will be writing directions to get there from the highway as well as making a drawing. The GPS coordinates are 33'07.839 116'10.045 Talking to the BnT guys, it looks like we will have about 3 additional campers but not all going on the squeeze run. A buddy of mine will be bringing his semi-rig with big sleeper with his desert toys to go play in the off-roading area.
It was a very quiet and beautiful and is an ideal spot. I hope more people are able to join us.

Yesterday should have been crazy but was not. I think there was not much reason for anyone to go down these roads. I only saw 1 Jeep go by in 1 hour, and he went real slow and waived.

FYI, for everyone, we can have a group meet at the bottom of the dropoff if necessary? and if only a few people want to go through the squeeze. I think a few others have expressed interest in meeting us at the bott of the dropoff.

Good idea. It would be good to have GPS coordinates/waypoints to approach from that direction because I recall it gets tricky out there. I am going out of town and away from civilization for the next week but will work on the map when I get back.
Glad yer coming Jerdog. We had a good time at Big Bear!

Map
I got the map done. The fastest way is to turn right off the 78 when you get to ranger station rd. If you are not in a 4wd or have an RV, take the next right on the map short of main st. There is one sandy area on that route so you may have to keep an rv moving right along.
