Reno weekend via the Train, any interest?
Hey PMC folks...
Cindy and I are going to arrange a weekend trip to Reno via the train. Basically, board the train on Friday (stops include Oakland, Richmond, Sacto or Auburn for example), travel over the Sierra to Reno (trains stops right there next to casinos), spend Friday and Saturday night, then catch the train home on Sunday.
Curious if there is any interest from fellow club members in doing something like this?
Probably before the holidays, will be snow on the ground, and cost is probably about $350 (for two) which would include your hotel stay and round trip train tickets. Gambling, booze, broads and food are on top of that.
The train ride over is great, I've done this a couple times... they have the observation car, bar and lounge car, food car, etc. By the time you find yourself back in your seat, you are pulling into Reno. You can stay at any casino you choose, they are all walking distance (for the most part) from the train station.
Folks are welcome to meet in Auburn to park, and catch the train right here.
Good time to go, as no crush going on, don't have to travel I80 in the snow, the train is warm (Michael) and would be a lot of fun amongst friends. Weekend should allow spouses to join, and if you don't want to gamble, you don't have to.
Chime in if interested, even if on the fence right now... we can firm up plans over the next couple weeks.
Give it some thought... more details to follow.

Sry Tony,
No interest from the wifey, and that is ok with me not really a train guy, but it would be fun to do once.

Update...
This will need to happen in January. Will nail down some target weekends and estimated cost in the next few weeks.
This will also allow more snow on the ground for our journey.
