Hi, Just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in...I'm very interested in still having a group camp at Pillsbury this year, unfortunately I can't make it to the meeting on the 20th because I have to work. So I just wanted to let someone know. I've only missed one year of group camp since I joined 4 years ago and I'd hate to see it eliminated.

Sorry to say but the way PG&E changed the way they take reservation's we were not able to reserve the group camp this year at Pillsbury. You had to rent it for a full week untill late summer then you could rent it for less time. By then the lake is pretty low and muddy.
Sorry we tried- Tim

What is a full week run ? Is it all full and it is too late anyhow ? Or if we raise the funds is it still a possibilty ?

just a thought you could always organize a group camp at one of the other locations such as sunset or fuller grove

will call on the status of navy camp but i have never seen it open

or as a last resort we could alway over run the oak flat only diff being is oak flat doest have any running water where as sunset, pogie point, fuller grove, and navy call all do..

if the group was large enough we could hawg the hell out of oak flat

parents used to do it when i was a baby

just a thought

dont known how many of you hunt but would be fun to get together and get a "unoffical" camp or hunt together even it if want huge

Does anyone have info on the Moon Rock run in Sparks NV over memorial weekend. Is it ok for stock rigs?

I wouldn't bring a stock truck unless you just want to drive up and down the dirt road. There is some pretty hard core very short runs, 50 to 100 yds. The whole rock crawlen area is only about 2 acres. But if you want to party and watch all the other truck roll over 24 hrs a day, then come on out.

Did anyone discuss a possible date for the Lost Coast run at the meeting?

There was a lot of positive response about a Lost Coast trip, but I don't remember anybody suggesting a particular date at the meeting.

I know some people want to do other runs. I can just throw in a date and hope people will show up. Or will some like to head up this run as I posted earlier. It would not be to much fun if you're the only person here.

We'd like to go Aug 16-17 weekend but that falls on the Cow mt. run. Two very different types of wheeling. There seems to be quite a variety of wheelers in the club also. Would it be possible to hold two runs on the same weekend?
I explored the lower half of the lost coast about 25 years ago but we were behind gates. Are those roads now open to the public? Sounds like the Ramseys have been in there more recently, maybe they would like to lead even a small group in for a looksee. I know I'd love to get back there again. You can't beat the weather that time of year compared to 100+ degrees on Cow

I know there was organized Jeeper runs up there in the mid 90's. I know that there are area's with trails and camping that you need to know how or know someone who knows how to get to em. The jeeper runs used the main access road but then went off to the north to a camping area along a river up in a valley and I am not sure of the trail/trails used to get there again. I'm in for this.

EXPLORATION and VENTURING on trails just to find out where they go, quit teasing!! This is one of, no wait, THE most favorite vehicular activity of mine. As long as I can get flight clearance, I AM SOOOO THERE.

Lost Coast Run - Aug 16-17 ??

Yeah I think August 16-17 would be good for us too. (Haven't talked to Ryan about that date yet) But with all the other runs and obligations we have that sounds like it would work. It's not too close to Swap Meet, McGrew or the FJ45 run (Aug 30-Sep 1). Cow Mountain - been there and done that a thousand times!

When we went to the Lost Coast before it was in 2001 or 2002 over 4th of July weekend with his parents. It's an easy enough trail to get in since we drove full size Chevys then. We didn't explore and do much wheelin' other than the trail in. We didn't have a regulation camp site. There were some but we didn't use them. But we found a grassy area & had some trees for shade. There are hiking trails up there that we did. Some other people up there had brought fireworks and lit them on the beach. We watched that and had fun watching an idiot in an Explorer get stuck on the beach - Hilarious!! Now keep in mind - it's not like Pismo - you're not allowed/supposed to drive on the beach. And since it's a northern California beach it's not nice soft sand like Pismo either. The beach is more pebbly and sandy and there's lots of drift wood everywhere. But it is beautiful.

Lost Coast sounds like a good replacement camp out to replace group camp at Pillsbury since we weren't able to get that this year. Aug 16-17 sounds good, or maybe even show up on the 15th, make it a 2 night stay. The other dates that might work even though its sandwiched between swap meet and mcgrew would be July 18-20, since not everyone goes to McGrew.
